Ok, so listen to this nightmare before you even consider trusting their service department to take care of a good customer. I traded in my 2007 Toyota Tacoma in March of 2008 to this dealership. The truck w trusting their service department to take care of a good customer. I traded in my 2007 Toyota Tacoma in March of 2008 to this dealership. The truck was worth about 28-30K when I took the hit and traded it in for 22K. At the time I was suffering the financial strain of our economy and wanted to get in a more practical and economical ride. I have always been impressed with German engineering. I bought an 06 Jetta Certified Pre-owned with 40K miles on it. It was a great car for the most part. My extended warranty, I bought for it covered the car for two years or 74,000 miles. I took the car in for a final warranty inspection shortly before the 2 years was about to expire. With a couple of minor replacements (CV boot and seat belt malfunction). I entered the out of warranty time. 2K miles after this final inspection, my transmission started shifting really hard from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. I thought I was doomed for a trans. rebuild at 76K miles on the car. I took my car to a German Auto Mechanic to find it was the Valve Body. About a thousand dollar repair. On Dec. 21st 2010, I received a letter in the mail from Volkswagen, explaining that they extended the warranty on my valve body to 100K miles. Overjoyed, I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership to get it repaired. The next day, the service rep called me and told me that it was not the valve body because they found "burnt fluid" in my transmission. He immediately concluded that I would need a whole new transmission over burnt fluid. After consulting with my dad, who is a mechanic, he informed me that examining the fluid is NOT a proper diagnosis of the valve body. I waited a week, due to the holidays for Doug, The Service Manager to get back. Once I met with him in person, he agreed to take the pan down from the transmission to run proper diagnosis. He stressed that this was not a required service, approved under the warranty...ok whatever...He agreed to do what they should have done to diagnose the valve body, out of good will, to begin with. So I was satisfied, only after I disputed it. I will say though, that Doug, the Service Manager did go above and beyond, by documenting his conversations between him and Volkswagen of America. He also had my car washed as well as having gas put in the car. Even though the issue was not resolved with my vehicle, I feel Doug did everything he could to fight for my case. I wouldn't buy another Volkswagen again. More
Chris Trowbridge of North Scottsdale VW is a great example of positive customer focus and results. He is an outstanding representative of the North Scottsdale VW team, through his friendly, profession example of positive customer focus and results. He is an outstanding representative of the North Scottsdale VW team, through his friendly, professional, competent and diligent customer service. Chris helped me obtain hard-to-find floormats for my daughter's Jetta. Once the floormats arrived, Chris called me to inform me of their arrival. The new floor mats had factory-revised eyelets which did not mate with the connectors in the car. When I arrived at the dealer to pick up the mats, Chris proactively swapped out the new larger eyelets with correct ones for each of the four floor mats. He ensured that they fit the car's connectors. I appreciated Chris' follow-through and his customer focus, during a very busy holiday season. More
My wife and I had narrowed a new car choice down to 4 and one was a GTI. On December 18th, we went to Volkswagen North Scottsdale because it was the closest VW dealer. After a drive, we ruled out the GTI one was a GTI. On December 18th, we went to Volkswagen North Scottsdale because it was the closest VW dealer. After a drive, we ruled out the GTI, but my wife liked the 2011 CC. Bruce Lama did a good job answering questions about the car. I told him I had not done my homework (resale value, reliability, etc.) on that model and would get back to him if everything checks out. During our talks, he presented me with a written offer and I told him again that I had some things to check out first. As we were leaving, he took us aside and told us that his manager (Jim Knights) had made a "mistake" on the offer. He said Jim thought it was a 2010 model with $1000 incentives. In other words, the offer was $1000 lower than it was supposed to be. BUT (he said) Jim is aware of the mistake, but would still honor that price IF we bought today. I'm afraid I could not stifle a chuckle at such a car sales cliche but told him I would get back with him and asked his next work day. When I called him to tell him we would buy the car and it would be a cash sale. Bruce then informed me that he was serious on Saturday when he told me the price was good for that day only. I assumed he was just trying to see if I would pay more. I had several conversations with Bruce and Jim, but when they insisted they could not sell the car for that price. So we put a deposit down on another brand/model car on our list. That car hasn't arrived at the dealer yet but is expected by the end of the year. Since Jim claimed to be wiling to sell the car, despite the mistake, on Saturday, that tells me the price was one acceptable to VW North Scottsdale, otherwise Jim would have been violating his fiduciary responsibilities. Obviously, VW North Scottsdale can decide what they will sell a car for. And we were not harmed since we still purchased a car we wanted somewhere else at a price we wanted. But potential buyers should be aware of the kinds of shenanigans they will face if shopping there. And I admit this was a new one to me with 40 years of new car shopping under my belt. I'm at a loss trying to figure out how they thought trying to change the price AFTER they made a written offer would work for them. More

During my excellent purchase experience I was given a tour of the Volkswagen North Scottsdale service facility and other Penske facilities. I quickly realized that this was a dealership and service facil tour of the Volkswagen North Scottsdale service facility and other Penske facilities. I quickly realized that this was a dealership and service facility like no other. Although I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico, I have returned to this dealership for service several times, usually on my way to visit relatives in California. Each of these visits have been an extremely positive experience. Jeff Porter has been my service advisor from day one and has ensured prompt and excellent service for my Touareg. His understanding of my vehicle and the interaction he facilitated between me and their knowledgable service personnel made for a totally satisfying experience on each occasion. My last service appointment was on 10/05/10 and I will be returning there this coming week (Dec 9)on my way to CA. The entire staff at the dealership is extremely customer oriented and it was refreshing to find that owners of higher end vehicles such as the Touareg receive the kind of treatment I have experienced at Volkswagen North Scottsdale. I called this dealership to ask a question about a car advertised on Autotrader. The salesman who answered, Bruce, said he was with another customer, but would call me back shortly. Bruce called back a advertised on Autotrader. The salesman who answered, Bruce, said he was with another customer, but would call me back shortly. Bruce called back a little while later, but I was unable to answer the phone at the time. I got a new voicemail notification and when I checked the message, I was quite surprised by the message that was there. Apparently, Bruce did not realize he was being recorded. All I heard were some choice words about me in the third person. This was unprofessional and gave me a bad impression about his opinion of potential customers. I called back to report this to a manager. Bruce answered and denied that the person heard speaking in the voicemail was him. He transferred me to a manager's voicemail. Two days later and I still hadn't received a call back. It was at that time, at which I originally posted this review. Update: Upon first posting this review, the dealership did promptly contact me. They offered up a sincere apology for the incident, which was nice of them. I spoke with the general manager and he seemed serious about making things up to me. Unfortunately, the car I had been interested in during the previous weekend was sold by the time I had another opportunity to make it to the dealership. It was also listed on Ebay at the time I was asking questions about it, which would have been nice to have been told. Its too bad this car was sold because it was exactly what I was looking for. The new salesman I was working with over the phone tried to get me interested in 2010 vehicle, but would not give me a clear price over the phone/email. As we exchanged emails, this car too was sold. We tried to make a deal in 2009 but the numbers didn't work, but there was no high pressure to do it. I came back in 2010 and it worked this time. Each time I visit for service, if Ross is on duty, he greets me and we chat for a few minutes. I will probably purchase the New Jetta in about 3 years, or maybe the new Passat replacement. I recommend VW North Scottsdale -and buy one from Ross. More
