We bought a new Outback this past weekend after test driving the 2021 model. We have had a 2015 Outback, which has served us well, but wanted a new Outback for a variety of reasons. We like all the peo driving the 2021 model. We have had a 2015 Outback, which has served us well, but wanted a new Outback for a variety of reasons. We like all the people we have dealt with at Bill Bryan. However, the only negatives we had in the buying process were: time to finalize the deal; and transparency of the final pricing components. From the time we arrived for the test drive, until we left with a new car, was 5 hours! The primary causes were the computer system training/problems, as well as the amount of paperwork that needed to be completed by hand. As far as pricing, we were presented with the starting price. When I asked if that was the MSRP, I was told it was the vehicle price, and I could not tell what was included in it (in our case, there was nearly $2,995 added on for Benefit Value Cost that the dealer showed as worth $7,060. And of that amount, there were $5,700 in "Benefits" that I could have done without. The dealer should show the MSRP, and any extras, and discuss what is included in each. Then, I could determine if there was the value I was looking for, or there were extraneous items that we could do without. So, the final cost was the MSRP with the added "Benefits." I know it's up to the buyer to be knowledgeable about what we're paying for, but I believe the dealer should make it clear what those components are. Normally, I would have started my negotiations from the MSRP, and if the final price for a vehicle with only the features I wanted, I would have preferred to order a vehicle with only the features I wanted.
