The salesman, Ty, was good to work with. Very good, in fact. Next was Steven, who sat down to sign papers with me. Steven was very nice and a Gephardt Approved sticker was pinned next to his desk. All i fact. Next was Steven, who sat down to sign papers with me. Steven was very nice and a Gephardt Approved sticker was pinned next to his desk. All in all, I guess things went okay, but I do have a fairly bitter taste in my mouth from a few things, in dealing with Steven: 1- He quoted my trade in at $13,800, but on the final contract, it came out $13,000. When I asked him 3 x's about it, and his supervisor, Cory in Finance, the explanation was that since I was saving money by doing a trade-in, saving money in less sales tax- than if I sold it private party- because of that, they were deducting that difference from the value of my trade in. 2- Anti-theft coverage of $5,000 for 5 years. He said he was "giving" that to me. When I got home, I noticed that it cost me $399. I asked if I could cancel it, and was told "no," again by both him and Cory. I asked if I could have opted out of it had I noticed that at the beginning, and the answer was "no." Seems to me that this cost should be included in the original, stated price of the car, since it is no more optional than the doors or tires on the car. 3- I was originally sold an extended warranty on the car for $1,944. I agreed, then he said, because I was buying that, he would also "give" me a "free" 2 year interior warranty through a separate company. When the contract was printed, it said that the extended warranty cost $1,344 and the interior warranty cost $600. Again, I wondered why the discrepancy between what was spoken, and what was printed. When I went back and re-did the contract without these warranties, Steven offered the extended warranty for $1,000. I guess that's how buying a car works. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, because in my mind, how it is spoken is how it should be written. Also, the real cost of the basic car purchase is $399 higher than I thought, and the trade-in was $800 lower than I was told. Having said that, the price on the car was still fair, and the value of the trade-in was still fair as well. I would almost give 3 stars, but I asked myself if I'll ever go back to Velocity, and the answer is no. More
From the start I had a very good experience and the prices were very low so I was excited to arrive and find a car I had been eyeing. The first woman that helped me was nice, even though I test drove t prices were very low so I was excited to arrive and find a car I had been eyeing. The first woman that helped me was nice, even though I test drove the wrong car I described they let me drive the others after. My salesman was extremely rude and pushy, giving me short, cold answers, and didn't look at me in the eye often. The second car I was interested in made a terrible noise when he started it, and that's where things started to go downhill. When I got my mechanic on the phone to ask questions he got the look on his face like "oh great." After that his mood changed, and he wasn't friendly at all. I do not recommend them! More
We were very pleased with our car buying experience. The sales staff was helpful but not high pressure in any way. We ended up buying 2 different cars and found the pricing to be very competetive to other sales staff was helpful but not high pressure in any way. We would definately do business with Velocity Auto Sales again and will refer other people to their dealership. More
Went in to look at a 2007 Toyota Highlander. Had to wait to get someone to help to take it on a test drive. After getting a salesman to help, the vehicle would not start because of a dead battery. They jump to get someone to help to take it on a test drive. After getting a salesman to help, the vehicle would not start because of a dead battery. They jump started it and I took it on a test drive. Low tire light was on and after inspecting the tires found the there was one odd tire out of the 4. From my understanding all 4 wheels should match or at least the 2 on the same axle. In talking to the salesman he acted like he did not care and said I would have to talk to one of the managers/finance guys. They were busy so I came back the next business day. I had them look at my vehicle for possible trade in. While I was waiting I ask that they start the vehicle. Battery dead. Asked what they would do and I was told I have to talk to the manager. I was comparing this vehicle to another Highlander that had a towing package from another dealer. They offered me a towing package, but when I asked what was included he had to talk to his manager. Basically the sales guys have no ability to do anything except "ask the manager". When I asked to talk to the manager, it was their policy to only allow the customer to talk to them when they are ready to buy because they are to busy otherwise. Glad their business is doing so well that they dictate when they talk to customers. I was interested in buying the Highlander and left my number. I will see if I get a call back. More
On Friday 5/31/13 I came into Velocity Auto Sales to look at a 2009 Honda Civic with 21K Miles, I felt it was competitively priced and I wanted to see it first hand to see if it was the car for me. We waited at a 2009 Honda Civic with 21K Miles, I felt it was competitively priced and I wanted to see it first hand to see if it was the car for me. We waited about 10 minutes before being helped, but that wasn't a big deal because they seemed understaffed. After speaking to a salesman, we waited another 25 before being able to try out the car. We took the car for a spin and enjoyed it for the most part, when we got back I attempted to talk prices with the salesman, at which time he told me that he didn't have the authority to talk prices with me, but that I had to wait to talk to Cory. We waited another 10 minutes while the salesman got some paperwork ready for us to fill out. After filling out the paperwork, we waited nearly 20 more minutes before seeing Cory, unfortunately by this time I only had moments to talk before I had to leave for work. I told Cory that if it were possible, I’d like to come back the following day to discuss prices. On Saturday 6/1/13 I came back and asked to speak to Cory, I was told he was with a customer and I’d have to wait a few moments, this was no problem, I was fine with waiting as long as needed. After about 20 minutes I asked the salesman if Cory was going to be available soon, because you were closing in 40 minutes and I didn’t want to keep you after close. He said Cory should be available any minute and that I didn’t need to worry about keeping them after close, they were happy to help. However, after another 20 minutes I was approached by another salesman and told that Cory was too busy to speak to me that night and that I needed to come back another day because they were closing soon, and Cory wouldn’t be available to talk to me before close. Frustrated with having wasted my time I went home. On Wednesday 6/5/13 I reluctantly came back into Velocity Auto Sales and hoped that since they weren’t closing for another 7 hours, they’d have plenty of time to talk to me. I waited 10 minutes before being approached by any salesmen, they apologized for the wait and asked me what car I was looking for, I told him I was looking at the 2009 Honda Civic with 21K miles, and that I just needed to talk prices with whoever had the authority to do so, as I expected, he told me Cory was the only one with that authority. He offered to let me drive the car again if I needed, and I told him that that wouldn’t be necessary. After waiting an additional 45 minutes I decided to look the car up on their website to double check the listed price, I noticed that the 2009 Honda Civic with 21K Miles was no longer listed on your website, I asked the same salesman I had spoken to early that day and he told me that the car had been sold. Why couldn’t he have told me that when I first came in? Ultimately I wasted several hours receiving the worst customer service I’ve ever had. I don’t understand how you run a dealership with only man being allowed to actually sell cars, but more importantly I don’t understand how you can run a company when you blatantly have no respect for your customers, I’ve never seen a company with such terrible customer service in my entire life, luckily there are plenty of other dealerships out there that I can give my $15,000 to. Do not buy a car from these guys! I was in the market Do not buy a car from these guys! I was in the market to get an SUV/Crossover. I found a Mazda CX-9 that I liked on their website. According to the Do not buy a car from these guys! I was in the market to get an SUV/Crossover. I found a Mazda CX-9 that I liked on their website. According to their site, it was at their lot in Lehi. So I drove 30 minutes to see it, drive it, etc. only to learn that it wasn't at that lot anymore. So I got to drive back up to the other lot in Draper to see it. The sales staff was great actually and definitely the best part of the buying experience. They were better than any other car dealership I had been to. They weren't pushy and I didn't feel pressured into buying a car at all. Unfortunately, that was about the only good thing that came out of my buying experience. Where do I even begin with all of the problems this car has had. Before purchasing I asked if they inspect their cars for any major repairs, damage, etc. and if they fixed anything. I was told by multiple people that they inspect every single vehicle for problems and all cars pass a 'thorough' inspection. They couldn't be more wrong. Shortly after driving off the lot, the tire pressure light came on. I had dealt with these before and figured it was a little low from sitting around on the lot. I put some in air in all the tires but the light never went off. I called the Mazda dealership to have them check the sensors and see if it needed to be replaced. Turns out that the car was missing 2 of these sensors. Along with that, one of the rims had a crack in it so air was always leaking from that tire. And another one of the tires had a faulty patch from a flat repair, so all tires needed to be replaced. I called up Velocity and surprisingly they replaced the cracked rim and put on a set of used tires. They refused to replace the tire sensors, however, so I got to pay for that. Ever since then it's been nothing but problems and things for me to repair. One of the ball joints on the front axel was bad so that had to be replaced. One of the front rotors needed to be replaced along with its brakes. The rear axle has a leak on it which needs to be fixed. The car was missing the spare and jack (which legally they don't have to put in, but at least have the decency to put it in or tell me it wasn't there). One of the headlight units is broken and needs to be replaced with an entirely new unit. The water pump broke and had to be replaced. The transfer case failed which caused the AWD not to function properly, so that had to be replaced. Then there was an internal failure on the transmission so that has to be replaced as well. I have owned 2 other Mazdas and have family members that have owned Mazdas and never had any of these problems. Mazda makes decent cars - I was just sold a piece of junk. If you are considering purchasing a car from Velocity, I suggest purchasing elsewhere. If you are seriously considering buying, take your car to a mechanic before purchasing to have every single thing checked out. Places like Midas will even do a complete check of all systems, internal parts, etc. For those of you that have purchased from them, I hope you bought the extended warranty. Lucky for us, we did and that has helped lighten the burden of fixing so many problems on this car. If you didn't purchase that extended warranty, see if you still can. Otherwise, do not purchase a vehicle from them. While the service from the sales staff was great, I am very displeased with the quality of the vehicle I was sold. Shame on me, I guess, for not having everything checked and checked again. I definitely will not be purchasing a car from Velocity Auto Sales again and will always recommend that others don't purchase from them as well. More
You are not held hostage while having your old car appraised. Very friendly staff. Quick turn around from selection to financing. Less than a day to finish the deal. I recently bought an Infiniti from them, and during the process, I asked several times whether they inspect their cars, if there were any repairs that were needed, and I specifically asked about the struts process, I asked several times whether they inspect their cars, if there were any repairs that were needed, and I specifically asked about the struts because I had just sold an Infiniti with similar miles and had to repair the struts before selling it. I was repeatedly told that they do a thorough inspection of all their cars and take care of any major repairs before selling them. I was stupid, believed them, and bought the car. I soon found out that it wouldn't even pass the safety inspection and had several major issues, including the struts and several other things that would have been easily seen on any cursory inspection. I've had to put several thousand dollars into these repairs, and I'm still not done. In a later discussion with someone else at the dealer, I was told that they don't inspect every car or make repairs. I don't think the salesman intentionally lied to me, but I do think they have a lot of cars and a lot of salesmen who aren't familiar with each car and don't know what they're talking about. More
Great price and was extremely pleased that the service and quality of the car match the amazing price.
