purchased a used truck from over 1500 miles away I recently purchased a low mileage 2010 Toyota Tacoma from Van Horn that I first found on cargurus.com, then later on Autotrader.com. I didn't want t I recently purchased a low mileage 2010 Toyota Tacoma from Van Horn that I first found on cargurus.com, then later on Autotrader.com. I didn't want to purchase the vehicle without seeing it and test driving it, but I live over 1500 miles away. I spoke on the phone with a salesman, we had good discussions, he sent me any information that I requested - a copy of the title, an inspection report, etc. The one thing I asked for several times but never received was an agreement for me to sign and make a deposit to hold the vehicle until I could get to Wisconsin to inspect it. I didn't want to purchase bus tickets until I had that agreement, but it never arrived. After several phone calls, a sales supervisor guaranteed me they'd hold the vehicle until I could get there, which wouldn't be for about 10 days. They picked me up at the bus station in Sheboygan, I spent a couple hours inspecting & driving the vehicle, and made the purchase. Vehicle ran fine on the drive home. Interestingly, on that drive home I heard on the radio that Toyota had settled a lawsuit for certain vehicles, including 2010 Tacomas, regarding potential corrosion issues. Now I have to follow up on that. Overall I am happy with my experience with Van Horn, I think they represented the vehicle to me in an open and transparent way. I made the purchase on Veterans Day, so my bank wasn't open for them to corroborate that I had the funds in my account, so they held the title until my check cleared. I saw through online banking that the check cleared my bank on a Wednesday, the title arrived via FedEx the following day. More
