The overall sales person Tom, was great to work with. The car we ended up with was horrible. This car dealer won't right their wrong because of state rules, no lemon law for used cars. In the disclosure u car we ended up with was horrible. This car dealer won't right their wrong because of state rules, no lemon law for used cars. In the disclosure upon purchasing the vehicle, it stated that nothing was wrong and everything was in working condition. I purchased a Lexus Rx300. The vehicle had been with us for one week and the engine light immediately came on, we went back to get the oxygen filter fixed, which they did fix. Again we left thinking the car was in good condition, they said it had just received an oil change before our purchase. A week after this the oil light came on and we again brought the vehicle in to be checked. The vehicles oil was bone dry, they added 4 quarts and recommended we the car to the Toyota Dealer. We made an appointment and took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer to get a further assessment and estimate. The final estimate was $7700.00 plus tax to repair the entire engine and that was with a used engine they had found with over 100k miles on it. VanHorn Budget Auto has refused to pay anything towards the car after we had waited to hear if they would take care of a car that clearly had major issues with it before we purchased it. In regards to the warranty, they are correct that none was purchased. Our Toyota mechanic who has reviewed the car has stated in writing that this car could of in no way had the issue after it was purchased on 6-18-13 but insists it was before the car was purchased because of the type of issue the car has. When purchasing the vehicle it was clear the oxygen sensor/filter was in need of replacement and Sheboygan Auto said they would replace it, but that it was the only issue with the car. The Toyota mechanic has also stated this is a well known running issue with Lexus RX300 and when this issue occurs any good mechanic would further diagnose the engine for other issues and would have also found the oil pressure being lost and replaced the parts before the engine needs replacing. He then stated Sheboygan County Budget Auto should have never quickly sold the car until a further diagnosis was done. Therefore the car was never sold in good condition as they stated it was and it never fully received the tests it needed to begin with BEFORE selling us a terrible car and not disclosing to us it had major issues. The disclosure states that the car is sold in good condition and that any issues (major or minor ones) would have to be legally disclosed to us. Which it was not. Therefore the car was not sold in good condition and no issues were disclosed to us. We had oil added to the engine 1 week after purchase and 2 weeks after that in which we have kept all receipts. Why then, if the car was sold in good condition would we have needed oil added to the car that was sold to us in good condition. The statement we signed also means any FUTURE problems would be ours to take care of, not current ones, it also states that you are supposed to have tested the car and driven, inspected. In which case you would have found an issue with the car and never sold it to us in the first place. The dealer who sold us our car, Tom Artabasy, said the car had not been driven or had the drive test. So obviously they should not have legally sold us the car without proper tests being done and completed. They also should not have even listed the car without it being user ready for a sale. If we had known the car had ANY issues we would have never purchased this car. We have been advised by our lawyer and by the mechanic to seek resolve with the company before seeking any legal action in regards to our vehicle. And since Sheboygan Budget Auto is unwilling to right their wrong, we will be seeking further legal action towards them. In WISCONSIN Dealers are not required to do any diagnostics on cars, drive them and there is no lemon law in Wisconsin in regards to used cars before selling them. We are one of the few states. So be warned about this company. Although they know what they did is wrong, all they can say is that we did not buy a warranty, which this would not of been covered by even if we had. So be warned when you buy ANY car from not just this dealer but any dealer - they can basically sell you a lemon and will turn their backs on you because legally they are not obligated to help you. Even though My husband is a Doctor in the community and I also own a business. They will be VERY sorry, word of mouth and reviews will be posted Everywhere warning others of these people who may be technically following the rules, but have no conscience for families buying their cars. After 45 yrs of buying numerous cars/trucks and getting them serviced, I have to give credit when/where credit is due. We were simply amazed at the pleasant service we received when a 2004 car we'd purcha them serviced, I have to give credit when/where credit is due. We were simply amazed at the pleasant service we received when a 2004 car we'd purchased from this dealership had something go wrong three weeks into ownership. Experience had taught us to have our daggers out and not expect satisfaction when calling late in the week. Astoundingly, Kyle said: "We will fix it. Call Josh on Monday." They fixed it free of charge and for our trouble, our tire balance/rotation was free. Like I said, this was amazing. This is likely the first time we've ever given a business all 5 stars down the line. A telling sign: they managed to defuse an initially angry owner, get the work done, and leave the owners feeling as if they got 5-star treatment. Wow! Both Kyle and Josh were very pleasant to deal with. If this is the way they normally do business, I would not hesitate to recommend them to those looking to buy used vehicles. More
I discovered this dealership through craigslist ads and decided to have a look. On Friday Feb 1 I was able come home with a 2006 Saturn. My credit is less then desireable and I had no cash on the spot for down payment. In my opinion these guys worked a minor miracle putting me in to a nice car given my credit. They really did go the extra mile and then some to seal the deal. I would deffnetly recomend them to anyone who has a rough credit history and needs a good vehicle. I would also like to point out that these guys dont play the game of offering a car for 3000 over the retail value so that then can tell you there giving you 3500 trade for your 500 rust bucket. This to me was a very admirable quality. The price I paid for my vehicle was "spot on" the KBB retail value. I had only one issue durring my sale process, anyone who reads this here is a heads up that could save some frustration. In my case they required 10 references, they all had to be complete with phone number and addresses. This would not have been so bad had I known before going in. (I talked with them prior to comming down and was told what I needed to bring) Unfortunetly I didnt find out till the very end wich left me extremely frustrated. In the end though I would highly recomend these guys. Tom Artabasy was very polite, he took the time to know what I like and dont like and proceeded with sugestions. I have to say he was not the pushy type of salesman I have dealt with in the best and was pleasent to work with. I give these guys 4.5 out of 5 stars only because i wish I had known about the referencs before comming in. More
I would recommend Tom to anyone. He is a great guy and will work things out with you and go the extra mile. Although, I was told the fluids was topped off and oil changed by the service dept before i boug will work things out with you and go the extra mile. Although, I was told the fluids was topped off and oil changed by the service dept before i bought vehicle, it wasn't. Only had vehicle for about a month, oil is blacker than black, powersteering fluid was low, coolant was low. SO far, I only put abouth 600 miles on the car and I dont think 600 miles would make it that black. Yes, customer service is great by Tom Artabasy, but THE DEALER THEMSELVES HAVE TO STAND BY WHAT THEY SAY! Now I'm out about 70 bucks for an oil change that was suppose to be done. More
I had a decent experience working with Ron and SCBA. The prices were reasonable and comparable to others I had looked at ( including eBay) and when I told them I was working with a check from an insurance c prices were reasonable and comparable to others I had looked at ( including eBay) and when I told them I was working with a check from an insurance claim ( my car was totaled by a texting teenager) and I was not interested in financing, they didn't push the issue. I drove over three hours to get to thus place and they were good about having the car I was interested in ready to go and didn't try and push me to another more expensive one. Their detailers could be a bit more throrough. Lots of minor missed spots. More
My husband told me to look on this website since he had read that they had donated a car to a woman whose car had been vandalized and totaled. I was looking a a vehicle under $10,000 that gave more than 3 read that they had donated a car to a woman whose car had been vandalized and totaled. I was looking a a vehicle under $10,000 that gave more than 30 miles to the gallon-up popped up a purple Scion! It was a sign, I called them and we talked, made arrangements to meet the next morning. Jerry was very pleasant and helpful on the phone and even more so in person when I arrived the next morning. More
