Upon returning for a test drive and more information about Subaru we were eagerly welcomed and educated about Subarus and the Van Bortel dealership philosophy where all pertinent information is very transparent. After finding a vehicle with a CD player (!) and a beautiful color (sepia bronze)we purchased a 2019 Forester! We love our new “wheels” and the thought when another family vehicle needs to be replaced, we can confidently head to Van Bortel for a positive urchase experience. More

After thinking it over, decided I would be better off buying new. Checked out Chevrolet, Honda, Toyota, Nissan - non met my needs as I was looking for a plugin hybrid. Had initially wrote off buying another Subaru, as the EV wasn’t that great compared to the other manufacturers, but in the end decided I would be better off with a Subaru - big selling point was the Crosstrek was the only PHEV offering AWD. My experience with the dealership, both in sales and service has just been great! More

It's been 16+ years since I've bought a new car and compared with past experience, I was pleasently surprised. I remember salesmen hanging around a showroom looking a bit like vultures waiting for lunch (me). Not so at Van Bortel. We were offered refreshments and places to sit. Ian Friedlander, our guide through the process, appeared and things progressed from there at our pace. I hadn't planned on a test drive, but enjoyed sitting behind the wheel while my husband got in the passenger seat and Ian directed me from the back seat. I wasn't quite ready fo make a decision yet, but did take Ian's card. After reading through the information, looking at all the pictures, picking out the model, color and accessories I wanted on my new car, I called, made an appointment with Ian and came in to order my car. The whole buying, financing, individual explanation of features and learning where the windshield wiper controls were (it was raining) went smoothly and I drove out in my new Crosstrek. The whole process and all the polite, not pushy, people with whom I dealt were amazing. I highly recommend buying from Van Bortel, Rochester. More
