Terrible experience with Finance Manager Dustin McCormack. We were looking to purchase a Kia Telluride and were in constant communication with Sales Consultant Ryan Hill over the span of two weeks. McCormack. We were looking to purchase a Kia Telluride and were in constant communication with Sales Consultant Ryan Hill over the span of two weeks. From the beginning, I informed Ryan I was going to reach out to my local credit unions/banks for financing options as well, and he informed it was fine and many times their in-house financing could beat other offers, match, or work with us on a rate. Ryan sent me some payment estimates, and informed they were only estimates and nothing was sent to their bank yet. The day before pickup, I asked Ryan again if they had any update on their best interest rate they could offer and he told me not yet, but since we have excellent credit, we would get the best rates available. Me, my pregnant wife, and my 2-year-old toddler made the 1.5-hour drive from DFW to purchase the vehicle the day it came in. We were put in the Finance office with Dustin. I informed Dustin I was told we could shop our own financing options as well to see if we can work on the best rate for us and he immediately and rudely informed “Well that is not going to happen”. He proceeded to quote me a high interest rate that did not make any sense with our excellent credit. He tried to soften this blow by stating he could “throw” in additional extended warranties for extra cost, and wrongly stated the Telluride only had a 5-year warranty and stated that is the best he could do. I informed Dustin I never experienced this at a dealership, where they would not make any attempt whatsoever to work on financing options. Dustin stated this is because it was because it was the “Telluride” and they had to mark it up and “they are in the business of making money”. This is on TOP of the $6,000 additional “market adjustment” Bob Utter already had on the Telluride that we were willing to pay already as we needed a car. He told us it did not matter to him if we did not take their first and only offer because “he would sell it the next day anyway”. I told Dustin we made the long drive to the dealership without knowing this information he was telling us, and he stated “he had to stay late as well to work on our transaction” basically saying we were taking up his time (we arrived at 4:40pm). Dustin tried to put the blame on Sales and Ryan specifically and stated that maybe “he should get fired”, and “that maybe Ryan wasn’t cut out for the job” if he told us other information. I thought this was totally unprofessional of Dustin to make those comments to us as customers. As we declined Dustin’s finance offer and proceeded to leave, he commented “and I thought y’all were nice people at first”. He was very angry and continued to bark at us as we just walked out of the place. We got back in our vehicle and Ryan ran out to the parking lot to apologize to us for what just occurred. Ryan acted much more professionally, and we could tell Ryan felt bad, embarrassed, and was indeed very sorry for how things turned out and the way Dustin treated us. If you are looking to use Bob Utter’s financing as the only option with extra markup this may be the place for you. Please check your financing and extra costs added if purchasing here, as they are “in the business of making money”. This tells you all you need to know about the business. More

I know a dealer is always going to cost a little more than an independent mechanic, and I can't always afford to go to the dealer, but when it's a big or possibly complicated repair, and I need to know without question that it will be done right, who knows my truck better than the people trained by the company that built the thing? (I don't say that about all dealers). On one occasion, many years ago, when Utter missed one small thing, and the problem recurred, they volunteered that information to me!!! Then, they re-did the repair, (parts and labor), free of charge, and went out of their way to save me money on the additional part that was missed the first time (a very slightly bent driveshaft). There was no labor charge for that, either, and they actually let me get a replacement driveshaft at a junkyard (without warranty on that part of course), to save me money and time! Another time, years after that, there was going to be a long back order time on a water pump, and they allowed (even suggested), that I go to a parts house and bring one to them! Saved me time and money. Trust and respect go a long way. Bob Utter has both from me. More
