For folks my age who remember the annual new car model madness of the 50's a A bit of a long story here, but this has been a great experience for me. For folks my age who remember the annual new car model madness of the 50's and 60's, buying a new car or truck is still a very big and very personal deal. It's not just transportation... it's your Ride. It doesn't matter what your choice of vehicle means to other people, what matters is what your choice of vehicle means to you. I have been servicing my 1998 GMC Sierra at Ultimate Buick GMC for many years and with every passing year the old truck was showing more signs of its age and the faithful work it had provided. Finally, last week, after getting a service estimate for what was needed to maintain it, I decided enough was enough. I loved that old truck, but it was time to move on. I planned on taking at least a week or two to find a deal on a new one. Knowing my situation and after inquiring what I really needed, Doug Williams offered to show me everything he had on the lot if I had the time. He's a knowledgeable, low pressure guy and very easy to work with. I did have time and decided to take a look. It so happened that in addition to a selection of new and regular used trucks, they had four nearly new (12,000 miles) GM lease trucks to look at and the price Doug gave me seemed incredibly low for such a nice looking, nearly new truck. Doug encouraged me to take my time and I wound up test driving three of those trucks. (Kind of silly of me, they were all the exact same model). I asked them to look at my old truck for a trade-in value and with all the work it needed I was sure it wouldn't be very much. Well, I was blown away by the great trade-in they offered me. Afterwards, I checked Blue Book prices on the internet and the asking price on the truck I wanted was at the very, very bottom end of the range of fair market value, and the trade-in on my old truck was off the scale at the top end of the range! I am convinced that I got the absolute best deal possible on my new (to me) 2014 Chevy Silverado. In fact, I saw the exact same truck, with more miles on it, for sale at another dealer for $4,000 more than I paid. After the sale and after talking with Laurie in finance and getting yet another good deal, I decided to purchase the Zurich inside/outside protection package. I can be fussy, and when I got home I found a couple of small stains on the fabric that had been missed in the preparation and Doug and Laurie went out of their way to make it right for me by redoing the whole process. These people are great! I have always been treated with great courtesy by everyone at Ultimate Buick GMC. The sales, service and parts staff are great people, always willing to assist you. And, tellingly, I've never seen an employee who didn't look happy to be there. That tells you a lot about a company. If you need a new vehicle at a very, very fair price, go see Doug Williams at Ultimate. He's a great guy and its a great dealership. More
