Dear Sir: In looking into your situation we have found a few things. First, in your posts, we would like to clarify that you did not buy the 2016 Ford Explorer vehicle from Tropical Ford. We also would like it to be known that this vehicle was reported with an accident on 6-27-17 on Carfax and as a total loss on 8-30-2017. The vehicle had severe front end damage in Texas in this accident. We cannot say as to what repairs you have had made to this vehicle since this accident or if you purchased the vehicle this way. We did re-inspect vehicle after the cap on your coolant bottle was found to be missing. We found that the coolant overflow bottle was not empty, but was low. So we added coolant to the proper fill line, installed a new cap, and ran the vehicle here for 45 minutes without any overheating or coolant leaks. We felt all was well with the vehicle, and released it to you. The issue you are having now, and the quote we gave to you to repair it, are unrelated to this. The problem you have is a shutter assembly that is intermittently closing due to age or possible damage from the accident that was incurred to the vehicle. The linkage that controls those grill shutters is broken, and, as we physically took you to the vehicle and showed you (the Mrs., I believe), the shutters are freely moving on their own. When driving down the road, the air that passes through the grill, is likely closing these loose shutters, causing your overheating issue. We gave a quote to that repair which you declined. Since you are not happy with us, we highly suggest you take your Explorer to someone else and have them review this same part replacement. The part we are quoting you for is a Ford part that has a 2 year/unlimited mileage warranty for the part plus labor. We would rather just stay with the facts of the repair that needs to be made to the vehicle, that could not have been caused by a missing coolant bottle cap, and your declining of the repair.
