First, let me say that MY dealings with TCT of Stuart had been very pleasant and hassle-free. I have purchased 2 cars from them in the last 15 months, a 2023 Camry SE and, most recently, a 2023 Prius XLE. Th been very pleasant and hassle-free. I have purchased 2 cars from them in the last 15 months, a 2023 Camry SE and, most recently, a 2023 Prius XLE. The issue I have is with how my wife was treated recently. She purchased a 2022 RAV4 XLE from TCT about a year ago, which she loves. She recently went in and was seriously considering trading her RAV in for a 2023 RAV4 XLE. In fact, she had pretty much come to acceptable terms with Alejandro (Salesman) and Bobby Roderick (Sale Manager). Her mother had passed away, literally the day before, and her mind was still spinning from that. She told Bobby and Alejandro that she needed some time to think about it and discuss it with me. I was not there, at this time, I had left for an appointment but she told me that Bobby instructed Alejandro to "...hide the vehicle out back so no one else would sell it...", or words to that effect. Bobby told my wife he would "hold the vehicle" for her until 1:00 pm that afternoon. Long story short, she came home, we discussed and she decided to move forward with the deal. She texted Alejandro and told him she would be back in about 15 minutes - this was around 12 noon, mind you - to finish the transaction. She received a text reply, I don't remember if if was from Alejandro or Bobby, saying the vehicle had been sold to someone else. Now, I used to sell cars and I know for a fact, no reputable dealership would ever "...hide a vehicle out back..." or even "...hold a vehicle..." without some kind of deposit. Had my wife known she was going to be misled, she would have been more than happy to put down a deposit to actually "hold" the vehicle. This was never offered by either Alejandro or Bobby. I guess her mistake was taking Bobby at his word! My guess is, someone was willing to pay more for the vehicle than my wife and the deal they accepted was more beneficial to the dealership! I get that, it happens. I just feel like Bobby was not being up-front or honest in his dealings with my wife. Did Bobby offer to try to fix this situation? NO! His only response was, "I'm sorry." He did not try to find a similar vehicle elsewhere or anything to rectify the situation! He is a perfect example of why people, in general, don't trust car salesmen and have bad feelings toward most of them. Sadly, this is not where this ends, though...OH, NO! I called to speak with the General Manager, I believe his name is Jarett Perlmutter. I relayed all of the above information to Jarett and expressed my dissatisfaction to him. He apologized as well and told me what I already knew...namely that "...we don't hide or hold vehicles for anyone...". My response to that was that is sounds like they have training issue and/or opportunity with Bobby & Alejandro...maybe others. He said he wanted to speak with both of them and assured me that he would call me back. That was Saturday, September 30th - OVER TWO WEEKS AGO - and I have heard nothing from anyone at TCT of Stuart. Needless to say, I am shocked but not surprised! The sad thing is, while TCT of Stuart has probably lost two good customers because of this - this would have been 4 vehicles in less than 2 years bought by us - it doesn't mean a xxxx thing to them! They will just move on to their next "good & valued customer" without giving this a second thought! I know that TCT of Stuart shows an average review rating of just under 5 stars. I'm curious, in light of how my wife was treated, just how "honest and accurate" that rating actually is! How many of those "reviews" are not legitimate customers?! The really sad thing is if TCT, and car dealers in general, would provide REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE and show HONEST CARE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS, their business would probably be even more impressive than it is now! More
