Our online pricing when you booked the service showed the labor costs online with the acknowledgement that parts would cost extra , which is why our manager contacted you the day before your scheduled service to provide you the full price, which you approved. Regarding the credit card surcharge, we have several signs throughout our service area warning customers about this to provide total transparency. The dealer's assertion is incorrect. The manager called to verify I indeed wanted the rear brakes done because they had recommended a year ago I get the front brakes done (which I had replaced elsewhere). He only said he wanted to make sure the correct parts got ordered. Pricing was NEVER mentioned and I certainly did NOT approve the high price. When logged onto the dealer's website, my computer only shows a price and an asterick which had no explanation anywhere on the page. I had NO idea the price was only for labor until after the work was complete and I was hit with a bill double what I was expecting. (The posted price was already a little higher than the full price I was charged for the front brakes by the other repair shop so there was no reason to assume that the prices posted were not the full price.)

The FJ that you traded needed a lot of repairs to pass MSI and to qualify to be sold off our lot, we will not sell a vehicle until these repairs along with All repairs need to make a safe vehicle for the next customer. When we trade a vehicle, we account for some repairs hence the amount we gave this customer. Now that we have had a chance to get a technician to look over the vehicle, we found a lot of repairs not visible to us at the time we traded. We would hope that a customer would tell of these issues at the time we are trading , but generally this doesn’t happen , and in some cases the customer might know of these repairs . Now that we have traded this FJ, we must spend more than we expected to bring it up to our standard of safety. We will have to ask enough to recoup our money and back our 6-month, 6000-mile warranty we offer at time of sale as well so the vehicle would qualify for the purchase of an extended warranty. Sounds like a standard response. You should really look into this a little closer. No one should make $15000 on a trade in and list it for sale two days after you got it. There were no repairs needed for the FJ, it had a crack in the windshield and needed to be detailed. The rest of the vehicle was in nearly perfect shape. I am an automobile mechanic and technician.
