I was recently getting a routine 105,000 service with my Prius. After waiting a while, I got a text message telling me that it was recommended I have several other maintenance things taken care of with the Prius. After waiting a while, I got a text message telling me that it was recommended I have several other maintenance things taken care of with the car. Suddenly, my $25 tire rotation was ballooning into more wait time (which I hadn't accounted for) and nearly $400 extra expense. I asked the service lady about it since I thought I recently had those special services done and she didn't go into any helpful detail except to say the maintenance services repopulate at a certain point (whatever that means). I declined the extra services so I could look into them independently. Apparently, what I was being offered should be done every 2 years or 30,000 miles (according to Toyota). It turned out I already had all those things done in March 2023 and wasn't near either of those cut-off points (time or mileage) to have them done again. I also used to get discount coupons in the mail but now I apparently have to search online for them before going to the dealership. Because I didn't know about this, I didn't receive any discounts as I have in the past. This experience makes me feel like the dealership does not have my best interest in mind but only wants to make money on expensive maintenance work. I was reminded repeatedly by email and text to leave a review. I was going to skip it but...here it is. More
