My service experience was quick. Brandon helped me get checked in with no issues. The car was serviced in a reasonable amount of time. Went in for diagnostic, came back with potential correction $700 plus 3 other items they thought needed attention for another approx $2000. I had them do one item that seemed like a safety issue but correction $700 plus 3 other items they thought needed attention for another approx $2000. I had them do one item that seemed like a safety issue but they refused to credit the “diagnostic” charge towards this since I didn’t get that particular item fixed. This had not been the way it was communicated to me when I brought the car in. This is just the final straw in a long history of feeling like I’m being overcharged and taken advantage of when I’m trusting professionals to tell me what really needs to be done. The icing on the cake is that I took my car to a body shop today to look at the molding issue that TSM wanted to charge $700 to replace and a tail light that TSM wanted to charge $525 to replace. This shop is simply re-installing the original molding at no charge and getting me the tail light FROM TOYOTA for $100. He’s not charging me labor because I’m his words “it’s just 4 screws.” That Toyota SM was going to charge me over $100 per screw as labor. So instead of $1200 I’m paying $100. I’m never going back to Toyota Santa Monica after being a loyal customer for 12 years. I’m telling anyone who will listen about my experience and while I’ve never written a negative Yelp review, I’m planning to do that too. To me this type of treatment of customers is dishonest and corrupt. More
