I bought my car new at Tom Gill Chevrolet and have taken it there for servicing ever since. I had to have some work done, and it was clear that the car was never inspected or test driven after the work was it there for servicing ever since. I had to have some work done, and it was clear that the car was never inspected or test driven after the work was done. They put their usual spin on it and thew money at it, but I just can't take my car there for servicing anymore. They had three days to do a job that should have taken less than a day, and it still isn't done right. I have a noise coming from the front of the car now that sounds like something rubbing against the tire or the tire wobbling against something. I am not sure if they broke or damaged something or what, but I just can't trust them anymore. If their mechanics/techs didn't do something right or damaged something on my car while working on it and it causes me to crash, well will I even survive the crash? More
I was looking to trade in my car for a used SUV. I saw the vehicle I wanted online and emailed Tom Gill. I did get a call the next morning early which I though was good. I made an appointment to go look a the vehicle I wanted online and emailed Tom Gill. I did get a call the next morning early which I though was good. I made an appointment to go look at the vehicle and have someone appraise my trade in. When I went in the door a saleman greeted me and told me he would find someone for me. The "sales manager" came to me and said everyone was busy but he would help for now. I then was greeted by another sale person. She was nice. When I went out to the vehicle to look it over and take it for a drive it wouldn't start. Yep you read it right. The vehicle they are trying to sell would not start. When it did start and I drove it around the lot there was a loud knocking in the front end. Nice! That should have been my first sign but nope I wanted this car. I filled out all the credit paperwork they even looked over my car. The sale person came back a couple of times and the last time she came back with the "sales manager" stating that they want to check with a couple more banks the next day because it was late and they would call me back. I NEVER got a call. So I went some where else and they were happy to work with me. STAY AWAY from Tom Gill!!!! More
I have read a lot of negative reviews on this board and frankly I am quite surprised. Tom Gill is the son of Norm Chesrown, and the family has been selling cars since the 1950's. Chesrown and the Gills h frankly I am quite surprised. Tom Gill is the son of Norm Chesrown, and the family has been selling cars since the 1950's. Chesrown and the Gills have a great reputation in the Columbus area and Tom Gill's former Oldsmobile dealership in Dublin was also rated very highly. Tom's brother Dave also owns a Chevy dealership and his brother Jim owns a Chevrolet-Cadillac-Buick-GMC dealership. In fact, check out the reviews for Chesrown. http://www.dealerrater.com/dealer/Chesrown-Chevrolet-Cadillac-Buick-Pontiac-GMC-review-23375/ Bottom line is that you don't stay in business for 50 years if you don't treat the customer right. I find it hard to believe Tom operates his dealership any differently than the rest of the family's dealerships or the way he operated his Oldsmobile dealership. More
I attend NKU and I needed a good used car to get me around so like an idiot I went to Tom Gill. They have all this buy American ads on tv. and I thought "sounds like a good place - why not go?" I hav around so like an idiot I went to Tom Gill. They have all this buy American ads on tv. and I thought "sounds like a good place - why not go?" I have some advice: STAY AWAY! I was there for 4 hours. They had a couple of cars I liked and I drove them. One had a noise in the front that sounded like a wheel would fall off and they said they would drop the price by $200 - big WHOOP. No not a car that already has problems for me. They showed me a new Aveo - it was pretty nice. I got excited about a new car. They took my credit and made me wait and wait and wait! They told me I could buy it and then a week later I got a call and they told me I needed $1000 for down payment to keep the car. I took it back and they were total jerks. I would not tell my worst enemies to go there. More
This is anything but a business of character. They tried to give me 2k less than the blue book value of my car and they raised the price of the car by a thousand bucks more than they advertised. On top of t to give me 2k less than the blue book value of my car and they raised the price of the car by a thousand bucks more than they advertised. On top of that they didn't apply any of my supplier or company discounts. They refused to honor their "Tom Gill Best Value Guarantee", by matching the price of the EXACT same car that was at Piles for 3 thousand less. The salesman was rude, I attempted to shake his hand when I left and he just walked away. I spoke to THREE sales managers and none of them would return phone calls or explain why they couldn't apply the discounts. I called to speak to Tom Gill and was told that he would contact me back... of course not! It was yet another sales manager (I think they all refer to themselves as "Sales Managers"). On top of it all one of their employees almost hit me while not paying attention while parking a car! Stay as far away from this place as possible. They are lying, decietful and money hungry. I'm scared to think about what would have happened to someone like me that wasn't able to see right through their games. More
Salesman greeted us with a pamphlet and told us that if we bought a car there, all the items on the pamphlet were included with the purchase. When we went for the financing the pamphlet stuff was included we bought a car there, all the items on the pamphlet were included with the purchase. When we went for the financing the pamphlet stuff was included in the price IF you bought an extended warranty. Financing guy, would not take no for an answer when he asked if we wanted the extended warranty. He asked us at least 4 times if we wanted it. We spent 6 hours at this dealer over 2 days and at the end of the 6 hours, we were no closer to signing a deal than when we walked in the door. They like to make you wait. Yes they have a snack bar and a snazzy showroom but their sales staff stink, especially the financing dept. The tried to rip us off, with an inflated price. When they told us the monthly payment of the car, the price of the car divided by 60 months at 0% financing did not equal the payment. The cost of the car was almost $2500 more than it should have been. When we tried to leave, they brought in the managers to try and get us to close the deal. They could not find the keys or the title until we threatened to get the police involved. They try and con you with all the bells, whistles, and glitzy showroom of the dealership. We went to a less glitzy dealer and got exactly what we wanted at a cheaper price. This is a bad place to do business. More
I was in the market for a car. I was not sure about new or used so I was shopping the internet. Tom Gills has the worst website and internet people of all the others. I sent in a number of requests for i or used so I was shopping the internet. Tom Gills has the worst website and internet people of all the others. I sent in a number of requests for information and it took them people days to get back to me. I had already received 4 or 5 responses from other dealers and had 2 appointments to go drive cars before Tom Gills every sent me any information. Then I sent them back an email telling them I had 2 other appointments already and they were mean about it. They tried telling me how great their service was and how everyone else would just be a let down. I had to tell them they had already let me down. I went and bought at another place in town and am real glad I did! I figured that if Gills took 3 days to get back to me when I was buying then the service after I bought would be even worse. More
First off I loooooove when you call the number at this place and the recording says "your not on our time, we are on your time" what a load of crap! I dealt with this clown when trying to buy a car an place and the recording says "your not on our time, we are on your time" what a load of crap! I dealt with this clown when trying to buy a car and this guy pissed around, talked to other people, was even selling cars to other people while i waited for him. Almost all of the staff at this place blows you off if you have a question that has any technical value and really aren't interested in talking to you unless they are going to make money. Steve's quote of "ill be back in 1 minute" turned into 45 continued by another "i'll just be a minute" then another 40 minutes rolled by. I wasted several hours of my life in this joke of a dealership and I will NEVER attempt to buy from this place again. I work for a really big company and believe me, I am spreading the word to all of them about this palace of morons. I really really loved the tom gill commercial stating "buy american" It is a very powerful message that did seem to come a bit late, but at least someone is stepping up to the plate to actually say what we should have been doing many many years ago. Bottom line is tom gills business of characters really sucks as far as customer service, I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't see this sites reviews before going to this place. also, the fat guy in the corner is a streaming pile as well More
My name is Ted and I have attempted to do business with this company more than once. They are not a business of character. They will lie to you at every turn. The free tires thing is a lie, the price-ma this company more than once. They are not a business of character. They will lie to you at every turn. The free tires thing is a lie, the price-match is a lie, and they act like you should be thanking them for helping you. My son and I went there to look for a car and after about 2 hours we had had enough and then they had to find the keys to my car that took another 20 minutes. It was terrible. Never AGAIN. More
They offer a price match guarantee but the catch is that the other dealer has to offer free car washes and they same dealer warranty that Tom Gill offers or they will not match the price. Unfortunately, ver the other dealer has to offer free car washes and they same dealer warranty that Tom Gill offers or they will not match the price. Unfortunately, very very few dealers are involved in the same warranty program which includes useless things like a personal assistant so price matching is impossible. They try to act above board but they are very slick. More
