1 Review of Tim Short Autoplex Maysville
Tim Short Maysville charges a very high Doc Fee, They charge well over 600.00, when even Kentucky Avg, according to Edmunds, is only 315.00. I went to buy a used Nissan Frontier this evening. Ricky Gray, charge well over 600.00, when even Kentucky Avg, according to Edmunds, is only 315.00. I went to buy a used Nissan Frontier this evening. Ricky Gray, the salesman, couldn't have been a nicer person. Super nice and polite. Their car detailer was likewise a great guy. At this time I don't recall their finance guys name, but we quickly came to a decent price on a acceptable vehicle. Again no problems with him either. I assume he is just doing his job. After we agreed to price and finance, i saw the 600+ doc fee. Think it was around 650, but can't remember the exact amount. Knowing that Doc Fees are arguably one of the most deceptive devices used, imho, the amount they are charging put almost all of the agreed to reduction in price right back on the cost of the vehicle. I feel sorry for all the folks trying to scrape together their pennies to buy a used car only to lose any benefit gained by a lower price. The state of Ky needs to stop this horrible practice. Call doc fees what they really are, Profit. All states need to rein in this practice. Despite this, I know that a doc fee was going to be charged, but over 600? Really? I might have accepted the amount had they lowered the price by at least half the fee to essentially charge the state average. That is pathetic. Further, despite my ability to afford this vehicle, I took it as an insult to me, for right or wrong. I work a government position and handle legal documents all the time. It is my obligation to those with whom I interact. No extra fees charged, it is required by law. It is no different for any business. Handling legal docs is just a part of doing business. More
