But then I found this car on the internet and went to look at it and met Ron Schwinnin. He was THE NICEST salesperson I have ever dealt with. He was upfront, honest, funny and very easy to deal with. I had been shopping for a used car both by personal visits and by the internet for a week. I met many pressured sales people and salesmen who didn't seem to care what I wanted. I wasn't looking for a Honda but stopped at Joliet Honda to see their pre-owned inventory and met Ron Schwinnen. Ron was a breath of fresh air and was straight forward with me. He was helpful, honest and listened to what my needs and wants were. He made an experience that I was nervous and weary of, a pleasant and easy time. Even though I was pre-approved and planned to use my bank for financing, Ron and Suzanne were able to give me a comparable rate through their company. This just took out another step I didn't have to do which made this transaction more convenient for me. I have been researching the new Honda Pilot for over 6 months. I made my purchase last weekend and could not be happier. I sent internet inquiries to over a dozen Honda dealers in the Chicago area and I was lucky enough to connect with Jim London at Honda of Joliet. Jim is in the Internet sales department and he was great to work with. We were able to reach our deal without ever having to set foot in the dealership. Quite honestly, I was a bit leery that once I showed up to buy the vehicle, that something would have changed. It didn't. I must have sent Jim 50 e-mails with a TON of questions - and he answered them all - usually within hours of me sending them to him Once we settled on the options, color and price - I arrived a week ago to finalize the transaction. It worked out exactly as Jim had promised. No games. No gimmicks. A great Honda product and an awesome sales person. I took my Honda to this dealer for check engine light. It took five plus hrs before diagnosing problem, which was MAP sensor and they gave the car back to me. I bought it back in five minutes, same issue wit took five plus hrs before diagnosing problem, which was MAP sensor and they gave the car back to me. I bought it back in five minutes, same issue with driving and engine light. I was there from 1:56pm to 5:00pm that day. The next day they did not call me, so I called at about 5:00pm and they said it was the IAC valve. I do not understand why would the mechanic give me the car back without test driving? The service manager Kevin Stratton, do not know how to talk to customers. He cannot even talk over the phone in a nice manner. He did not help me at all and I just went back and picked up the car and changed the IAC sensor myself. I will never go to this dealer again. This dealership is less than 15 min from my house but I will be happpy to go to a dealer over an hour away. More

He explained everything step by step, and in a genuine manner so I felt comfortable asking any questions or voicing any concerns. We looked at, and tried out, various used cars until we were both comfortable we had found the one for me, in my price range. Ted ensured the car had passed all inspections before confirming it was ready for purchase, and took the time to make sure I was 100% confident before driving off the lot. I have had my car for over 6 months now and am very happy with how it has been running - reliable and economical, no major problems, no surprise services or repairs needed. First off, I noticed that Honda of Joliet had a VERY high rating in comparison to all the other Chicagoland dealers. Then, I realized that not a single review was about their service department! We purcha rating in comparison to all the other Chicagoland dealers. Then, I realized that not a single review was about their service department! We purchased an '07 Fit and then an '04 Pilot from them and are pretty happy with both vehicles and we are also thoroughly satisfied with the whole experience much like everybody else. Their whole staff is very friendly and helpful and understanding when problems occur. BUT, my biggest problem is that many times it takes a couple of trips to get things right with maintenance. Just today, my wife had the Fit in for an oil change and tire rotation. She called ahead of time and they said they'd get her right in. An hour and ten minutes later they told her it was done and to pay and the car was in the service bay. After paying, the car was MIA for 10 minutes. 3 people could not locate out Fit. Then, finally my wife saw our car with two people in it making a turnaround in the adjacent hotel parking lot! (why?) Was somebody taking it for a test drive? Who knows. They exited the car and left before she could approach them. An hour and 20 minutes total. My Pilot had a flashing light come up when I turned on the ignition and then it went away. I described the problem specifically and was told to bring it in. When I got there the girl at the service desk told me it was warning me that an oil change was coming up, but I didn't need to bring it in until the light stayed on. So, I wasted a trip and time and decided to get my oil changed early. I have several other examples that I could mention (and keep in mind we've only had service about a dozen times - mostly routine maint), but due to constraints I won't go into detail. Bottom line is the people at the service desk don't know much about their products and there's a huge lack of communication between them, the mechanics and the parts department. I've made several extra trips to get things right. AND, they have made things right and were apologetic, but they should be good enough to get things right the first time, most of the time. I have a total lack of confidence in their service department and would not recommend service there. However, their sales experience was vgery good. Oh yeah, almost forgot. When we had our Fit for a whole 2 months and had it in for an oil change, Honda put a ding in our passenger door. They had no room to put any cars and all were parked far too close to each other. They fixed it for free, but you can see it if you look closely... More
