I purchased a 2018 Ford Escape from Texas Auto Center and have had a very frustrating and costly experience. Within about a year of ownership, the vehicle has suffered two transmission failures. The first transmission was replaced, and the second failure occurred again, leaving the vehicle non-operable. I have paid over $12,000 in payments in roughly one year on this vehicle, yet I am now stuck without transportation. Despite repeated mechanical failure, I was told the dealership would not rescind the sale, refund my money, or replace the vehicle, and instead offered only more repairs and additional financing. I made it clear I did not want further repairs due to lack of reliability, but my concerns were dismissed. Communication has been inconsistent, and I was repeatedly directed to call different numbers rather than receiving clear written resolutions. I was forced to escalate the matter to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles due to lack of meaningful assistance. This situation has caused significant financial hardship, stress, and loss of transportation. Buyers should be very cautious and fully understand what protections they truly have before purchasing, especially with high-cost repairs and in-house financing. I had a very misleading and frustrating experience with Texas Auto Center. I was told I was approved for the exact vehicle I test-drove and was led to believe that was the car I was signing for. When I arrived to finalize everything, the car was completely different from the one I had driven and agreed to. They suddenly claimed I “couldn’t afford” the original vehicle — something that was never mentioned before and made no sense since I had already test-driven it and was told I was approved. The replacement vehicle they tried to push on me was clearly not worth the price, and it felt like a classic bait-and-switch. I felt lied to, tricked, and pressured into accepting something I never agreed to. This experience wasted my time and caused unnecessary stress. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone who values honesty and transparency. Please be very careful, get everything in writing, and don’t assume the car you test-drive is the car they’ll actually sell you. More
I had Janet Rodriguez as my sales associate and she was on top of it! Approved over the phone in 10 minutes, came in , she already had a list of cars ready so I could have a starting point (I wasn’t sure on top of it!
