We always do our best to help stranded passangers. I realize Ms. Sparling is upset and I would be as well if my car broke down on vacation, especially with a senior mom and four young children.... But from our perspective to think that we would purposely try and take advantage of her family is ludicrous. First, I'm from Canada and all my family lives in Canada and after 20 years in the Jonesboro Ga. area everyone knows that. It has always been our custom to pay Canadians a little extra attention if possible. Ms. Sparling's Suburban was a 2006 model with 275,075 Kilometers with extreme undercarriage corrosion due to Canadian winters. This corrosion caused multiple failures. Aside from the starter bolts that had to be drilled out due to corrosion, the fuel pump had shorted internally and melted the connector from excessive heat. The fuel sending unit was badly corroded and starting to seep fuel and the fuel tank was leaking in the rear right corner. Most of the delay in causing this job to go into a second day was searching for and retreiving used parts to complete the job. Secondly, I got notice that Ms. Sparling was upset and was asked to call her. I left Ms. Sparling a message to return my call and according to her complaint she received the message but opted not to call back Instead she choose to write GM. GM of Canada called me and on four different occasions I returned their call. The first time I returned the call I was given a number that was only good in Canada and had to research how to reach the customer assistance representative from Atlanta. The next two times I left a message and we ended up playing phone tag and the last time the GM representative was on vacation. Ms. Sparling's total bill was was $868 after we gave her a credit of $170 for her inconvenience as well as eliminating all shop supplies from the bill which would have amounted to another $106.24. Again I understand why Ms. Sparling was so upset at being stranded while headed on vacation but under the circumstances we tried our best to get Ms. Sparling and her family back on the road as quickly as possible.
