I asked for a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle and was shown one “going through inspection.” I signed the contract Saturday and was told it would be ready by 4pm — but every day the pickup was delayed with excu one “going through inspection.” I signed the contract Saturday and was told it would be ready by 4pm — but every day the pickup was delayed with excuses. When I finally got it Tuesday, I discovered a cracked windshield and other poor repairs, even though no one told me it hadn’t passed CPO inspection. The salesperson couldn’t answer questions. The sales department is excellent. I bought two cars from the same dealership. Even if you just want to ask questions, they're more than capable of selling you a car. If I were to buy a third car, I'd choose Gillmans again. However, the credit and finance departments aren't the same. I think they're not working properly due to the heavy workload. DENISE was very KIND and PROFESSIONAL - I presented my situation to her (just had my old van totalled) and presented our offer over the phone - she worked it out an called me back within 15 minutes - we c situation to her (just had my old van totalled) and presented our offer over the phone - she worked it out an called me back within 15 minutes - we came to an agreement. She understood that I lived 2 hours away so had the offer confirmed via text, had the car on hold and waiting for me upon my arrival on the following day. Quick test drive and paperwork process. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED her. During the test drive and the drive home, the van was blowing air but not as cold as another Odyssey I test drove at another dealer a few days prior. I thought it was the setting so did not pay attention, However, when I started to use the van few days later, the van AC really showed issues - I called service and somehow (?) was routed to Sales Manager LUIS PASTOR. He mentioned to me that I would be allowed to swap the van- I mentioned to both Denise and Luis that we will not be paying any additional money for this swap because it was a manufacturer defect. I texted to confirm an even exchange, and Denise even called me to say that I could swap the same trim, but if I wanted another trim I had to pay extra, which I fully understood. They located a van with SAME trim/option (not the exterior color of my choice, but I was okay) from Russell Smith. However, after driving 2 hours, SHAWN JONES and LUIS PASTOR presented me with an invoice of over $4K, stating they could not honor the original price. I was upset to say the very least but politely declined. LUIS PASTOR then walked me into Service department and asked me to leave my van there to be diagnosed and repaired. I mentioned that I lived 2 hours away. LUIS PASTOR mentioned that he would deliver my van after the repair, which I asked him to confirm in text/writing but he REFUSED TO . I did not feel good in my gut so decided not to leave the vehicle there. I then texted LUIS PASTOR that I was being deceived because he did not disclose to me the amount ahead of time despite he knew that I had to drive 4 hours back and forth total and that I had to take a work day off (I have clearly explained to Denise and LUIS PASTOR). He promised to call me back with details to send me a $300 gas/gift card to make up for this inconvenience. I reminded him several times and never received a call/text back. Despite my DISAPPOINTMENT with LUIS PASTOR, I have to acknowledge Ethan's (service department) excellent encounter with me. He was compassionate about my situation, and despite the fact that I did not leave the van for diagnosis/ repair, he spent 30+ minutes to visit with my van AC and taught me how to (hopefully) use it - he even recorded the dripping water underneath the van to explain to me. It was during the bait and switch invoice with LUIS PASTOR, I learned that (1) Dealer’s Inventory Tax , (2) Documentary Fee, and (3) "other fees" were not legally required but were imposed on my original transaction! ($335 total) Also, as I am going over the instruction manual today, I also discovered that the van did NOT go through delivery inspection - the certificate was NOT signed off by technician, quality control, dealership and customer (me). This explains why we were sold a van with a non-cooling AC and water dripping (as a faucet) underneath. More
