I had a few conversations with GM corporate customer service. He was very nice and clearly is not happy with how I was treated. I sent him screen prints proving I was on the Costco auto purchase program at the time I was at Taylor Motors being told not to click send or I lose the $4500 manufacturer's rebate. He called me back and suggested I call Brent Taylor @ Taylor Motors. He feels confident that no GM would be okay with that kind of lie or customer treatment. So I called - and eventually was able to get through to him. I put the phone on speaker so that 1) I didn't accidently hang up on him and 2) so my husband could hear the call. He began the conversation with lies and ended it the same way. In between, he went on a rant that I messed up their perfect record and he doesn't like me (who cares?) and that he knew everything that occurred at the time it occurred. I never got more than a couple of words in ....His excuse for the Costco certificate denial - was that maybe it was not usable with that rebate. I pointed out that was not the case. He asked if I was now an expert in the topic of car sales and rebates. I told him of course not but that I have looked into the sale and rebates of this vehicle..... I asked for a copy of the invoice. He agreed but would not email it. No, no one else can come get it. I explained I was out of town nearly every day for 2 weeks. He replied with I don't like you, why should I be helpful to you in any way? Very professional for a 6 year old. Not so much for an adult. I would sum up my conversation (actually his rant) like this..... the higher up in that dealership you go, the more dishonest, rude and unpleasant the people become. At least JR Ball was pleasant when he lied to me. One always hopes that there's a person at the top of the food chain that is mature and objective and cares about the business as a whole and as such would do the right thing given the opportunity. Not so the case here. This man/child was a bully, aggressive, loud, rude and childish. He figures if he scares me enough i won't go back for that paper or anything else. He is right - life is too short to go somewhere knowing you will be abused. At least common thieves are smiling when they are sneaking the wallet out of your pocket. I have reported them to Costco and suggested that no longer send customers to that dealership. I guess I have to decide whether to take them to court or not let them have one more precious moment of my life. Dan asked what I was thinking trusting car salesmen, the sad question is really, what am I doing trusting anyone outside of my close family/friends circle? Sad but darn good question. Do yourselves a favor and 1) avoid this dealership at all costs and 2) research every little question ahead of time and do not trust a word spoken by a dealership empoyee or owner. Assume that if their mouths are moving, they are lying! More
