Edit to add: I just received a voicemail from Leo. It says “This is Leo, the general manager of TJ Chapman Auto regarding the vehicle you bought as a cash and carry that we had to lower down to $5,000 It says “This is Leo, the general manager of TJ Chapman Auto regarding the vehicle you bought as a cash and carry that we had to lower down to $5,000 because you couldn’t afford the rest of it. Can you give me a call back please. There’s a thing out there called defamation of character so you should look that up.” Nothing I stated in my review below was false. I posted my experience with the dealership and the unprofessionalism of leaving a voicemail like this shows true character. Defamation of character would be someone stating they had to lower the price of a vehicle because someone couldn’t afford it. We walked in there and we were straight up from the beginning in stating we would not be paying more than $5,000 cash out the door. I didn’t know setting a cap on what you wanted to spend meant you couldn’t afford more? We walked away when they gave their initial counter of $5,100. We almost got to our car when the salesman’s ran out and said they would do it for the $5,000 if we left good google reviews. We held up our end of the deal until the key incident below. We have yet to see any accountability from the dealership about this missing/nonexistent key. Review was 5 stars as the experience had started out great but then took a turn for the worst. Me and my husband bought a car from Clayton on 9/11. We bought as-is and we were told there were two sets of keys. It was past closing time and they said the 2nd set of keys could be in a tech’s drawer. We were told that they would call us to pick up the 2nd set once they found it. The next day they said one of their salesmen who was off could have put the keys somewhere. We reached out everyday to ask about these keys. We finally received a response on 9/14 from Clayton that they couldn’t find the 2nd set. Basically since we bought the car “as-is” and left without the 2nd key there was nothing they could do. They also mentioned that they already lowered the price on our vehicle as if that somehow made up for the fact that we weren’t getting this 2nd key. We asked if we could make a copy of the key/fob and if we could get reimbursed since we didn’t lose the key. We were told no because they lowered the prices to accept our offer (I don’t understand what this has to do with them losing this key). We asked to speak with a manager. Leo the sales manager called back and said there was never a 2nd key. He also mentioned that they already lowered the price when we bought the vehicle (again I don’t know what this has to do with us being told there’s a 2nd set of keys). Both parties agreed on a price and at the time this included the 2nd set of keys. I don’t understand why we were told about this 2nd set of keys and then all of a sudden they never existed after we tried to get more information for days. A verbal agreement was made when purchasing this vehicle that it included 2 sets of keys and a working fob. We received 1 key and a busted fob with no “guts”. This was a good experience turned bad. It’s not so much about the price of the key/fob but the principle. We were promised something, lied to, and blamed for “leaving without the keys.” The gaslighting in this experience from numerous employees was unreal. I didn’t mention the other 3 employees we spoke with who also tried to make it seem like what the dealership did was okay. Brian was the only reasonable person we spoke with. More

I was approved for the loan for the vehicle and was waiting on them to give me final numbers to have the bank cut the check. They sold the vehicle out from under me because I was not there in person v waiting on them to give me final numbers to have the bank cut the check. I was in constant contact with them and have all record of them leading me on the deal in text messages then they sold it out from under me. More
Remote buying, don't believe it. Their use of Bluestar inspections ... they rated the car 4.8 sighting a dented transmission cover. Everything else they said checked out. Surprise w Their use of Bluestar inspections ... they rated the car 4.8 sighting a dented transmission cover. Everything else they said checked out. Surprise when I got the car it drove funny, so I took it to my dealership here in town and ask them to diagnose the whole car. it came back with a dented transmission cover, which I expected, based on their Bluestar report, but then I got the real shock ... seems 3 of the 4 magnetic shocks were leaking oil. I knew that had to be fixed right away cause for me it was a safety issue. I supplied Jeff at TJ Chapman with the report and the estimate from Cadillac and at over 5,000 dollars just for the shocks, I asked my mechanic for a more reasonable solution which I felt I had to do since this whole deal had taken to long to begin with, and I was under the impression that it would be covered because it was advertised as a 5 star car, not counting the dented transmission cover, which made it 4.8 star car. How do 3 of the 4 shocks all of a sudden go bad. In trying to get this dealership to live up to their own hype about remote buying and being in another state, I was informed that Jeff no longer worked there and the manager involved was also no longer there. Did I mention my trade in, which was a 2006 Dodge Viper which I had owned for 15 years and very reluctant to give it up being a 65 year old veteran and unfamiliar with remote buying ect. I had a friend who was a bit younger than myself assured me everything was above board. after sending them a video and 15 years of receipts they agreed to give me X amount, the Cadillac, and some cash. When I was told to ship the Viper to them with the pink slip signed, I had a fit, but my younger friend assured me that it's the new way of doing things. They got the Viper and rather than doing what they agreed to verbally it was put on the floor with a 25,000 dollar markup, before I even got the Cadillac that they promised and in the condition they promised. When the car arrived well I have already explained what my issues were in the beginning of this review. Three months later I still don't have the title for the car and I have only gotten an excuse of the salesman and the manager no longer work there and the new manager knows nothing about the Viper or the Cadillac. I have submitted paperwork and followed up with repeated phone calls to try and get reimbursed for my out of pocket expense to fix their Cadillac. I also have contacted the Utah DMV and gave them the vin number of the Cadillac and they have no record of that vin number or a title for the car. Weather a salesperson or manager still works there or not, you would think they would honor their word on the condition of the car or at least get this title situation cleared up. It's been over 90 days as of writing this, and I am getting stuff from my DMV about liability for the Viper and the fines I will pay when I get there to register the Viper. In the end my lawyer will get everything straight but I ask you, "what's your time worth" according to TJ Chapman your time is worth nothing, and unless you spend money up front, to pursue legal action, you are going to be out, (in my case) another 5 to 10,000 dollars in repairs and legal fee's. Is all this really necessary, I don't think TJ Chapman really care. Being a 65 year old veteran and on Social Security as my only form of income, I have only begun to experience the hardships that stand before me, and all because people today just will not do the right thing and be a man of their word. Oh because of all this I have had to do some research and had I known in the beginning that The BBB gave them a D- I would have never done business with these people. Who gets a D- and I have not left a review with the BBB yet, it might just be an F before this nightmare is over. I guess it's a new age but some thing's are still the same "Buyer Beware" More
They were very courteous and my salesman very helpful even after the sale. All our correspondence was by text and email and upon arrival at the dealership they took my car out for a test drive and inspec even after the sale. They came back with an additional $1000 for my trade over what they quoted. I would definitely take my business there again. More
Jeff in sales was top notch! I really wanted to complete the sale. However, once I was moved over to finance, things seemed to fall apart. I hurried to secure my loan check fro I really wanted to complete the sale. However, once I was moved over to finance, things seemed to fall apart. I hurried to secure my loan check from my bank and get it overnighted via fedex. I was responding and getting responses within minutes regarding updated status of the payment delivery. Then, once i sent a picture of the check, proving payment, silence for hours. I even called twice to try and wire the remaining down payment. Then late at night when the check was supposed to be delivered, I got a short email saying the car had been sold… after I already sent payment and took out the loan from my bank and prepared my insurance for it. Needless to say I was very upset and shocked. I wasn’t looking for the car to to be held while I “think about it” I was rushing to secure the car/payment, yet I was told it was sold anyway. So I demanded my check be sent back asap to me return to my lender. The next day after my check was sent back by someone else, I was called again and apologized to, and told that the car wasn’t actually sold it was a mistake and I could still buy it. Needless to say, after saving up and not buying a new car for almost a decade, I was not interested. I ended up finding a certified 2018 Ghibli more local for only 2k more in price. They state in their reviews that they have “addressed the issue” with prior mishaps but obviously these types of issues keep happening. More
