Terrible experience. There was a vehicle and an MSRP on the website. I called to make sure THAT car was available to test drive. The first thing I was told was that that car is $16000 more than I was quoted. “I want to be up front with you and I don’t want to waste your time.” Too late! I had already driven an hour to get there. Everyone there was sleazy and slimy and lying to me with a straight face. Do not trust any person there! More
Thought everything was completed, got email confirmation about price and my rate of interest, said click here to accept which I did and set a time to go pick it up. Drove 2 hours one way to be told they want 60,000 for a vehicle with an msrp of 38,000. All the had to do was tell me before I drove all that way and I never would have wasted my time and money. Extremely poor communication. More
I’ve owned DOZENS of cars in my 54 years. I’ve never paid sticker price, much less OVER sticker for any of them, but I understand that we live in crazy times, and I am absolutely a capitalist! I defend the right of anyone to charge any price for anything they want...so long as I am not obligated to buy it. I am well aware that some Ford Dealerships are charging over MSRP for vehicles, and equally aware that there is little you, can or should do about that. I, as the consumer, have resolved NOT to pay over MSRP, or to EVER give my business to a dealership that would charge more than MSRP, which is my right. After what seemed like months searching, I finally located an Oxford White Ford Bronco Sport Outer Banks at Sunshine Ford in Newburgh, NY, over 75 miles from where I live in Tyler Hill PA. Around noon on November 18, 2021, I spoke with with Randy SCHMIDT, who confirmed that the car was available. I told SCHMIDT at least three times that I was aware that there were some dealerships charging over MSRP for these vehicles, but that I was unwilling to pay more than MSRP, and that if Sunshine was one of those dealers charging over MSRP that he should save me the 150 mile round trip. This conversation was WITNESSED on my end. SCHMIDT all but guaranteed that I would be able to purchase the car at MSRP, which prompted me to get there as soon as possible. When I arrived at the dealership approximately two hours later, after exchanging the usual pleasantries, SCHMIDT advised that currently the Ford Bronco Sport was selling at over $10,000 over MSRP, but that he was willing to work with me, and he showed me a document that was “only" charging me $5000 over MSRP. As you can imagine, I was, and frankly still am apoplectic. That jack xxx wasted my entire afternoon, not to mention a half a tank of gas. I understand its the dealers right to do this, but I DO think it’s Ford Motor Company’s duty to ensure that salespersons representing their brand deal honestly with customers. SCHMIDT is a bald face liar. If he were honest about the dealership policy, I would have looked elsewhere, and you wouldn’t be reading this. He STOLE my afternoon after I specifically told him I would not pay a nickel over MSRP. I spent the lion’s share of my career in federal law enforcement, and if I had done what SCHMIDT did, I would have been fired and quite likely prosecuted. I can’t imagine that anyone reading this would not be as outraged as I am writing it. Stay as far away from This dealership in general and SCHMIDT in particular as is humanly possible. Can I rate this place lower than a zero? More
