Ian, again, very sorry for the way this experience turned out. As we discussed yesterday about the differences in dealer quotes, one aspect of the quote was parts that were not being used for the job (related parts that automatically get added by the estimating system) and the other was labor times being incorrect. When you add those two together, it can really throw off a quote. Regardless, only what we use gets billed on the ticket, so parts not used would have never been billed to you/your father (otherwise our parts inventory and accounting would be off). There are well over a few thousand estimates in the system and it is up to us to verify they are correct. So as I mentioned, I agree that we worked a little too quickly, rushed the quote and didn’t double check our work, otherwise my staff should have caught this before presenting it. Since our conversation yesterday, I have verified that the labor time was incorrect in our estimating system and I have escalated this our 3rd party DMS provider Reynolds & Reynolds who provides the quoting system for us. This quote did not match the national Standard Motors labor time and they plan to have this corrected today. Without your perseverance, we most likely would not have been made aware of this issue. I mentioned yesterday, you are correct about a misquote, but if my staff simply presents a quote (trusting the information we are looking at is correct by a 3rd party), then that doesn’t make us thieves, maybe unprofessional for not verifying our quote, but not a thief. I am sorry for the poor experience or for not getting the vehicle in sooner. I believe you have made my staff and I more aware of the consequences of not checking our work and data from a 3rd party.
