Be aware of airbag light scam! They will get every penny out of you! End of August, I had break service on my Escape, and my wife drove it back home. Next day, I started the car and noticed the airbag li out of you! End of August, I had break service on my Escape, and my wife drove it back home. Next day, I started the car and noticed the airbag light is on. I asked my wife if she noticed this happened yesterday when she drove back home, but she just has no idea on her car as usual female does. I went to Sunnyvale Ford, and Service guy (Oscar) said only diagnostic will cost $168. I had airbag light issue on my other cars, but it is way too expensive. I asked them why it is so pricy, and service guy said because they do (so called) "Pin Point Diagnostic". Next day, I checked price of diagnostic at Frontier and they said it is$155, and I was already feel this place charge more than others. However, this place was closest from my home, and also my wife was pregnant, I just went back and did diagnostic to avoid any safety concern. After few hours later, Oscar called me: O: Hey, your car has issue on both pretensioner and need to replace both driver and passenger side. J: Really? What is the diagnostic error code? O: What? (He was not expecting this question coming) J: Error code please, you should have got it from the diagnostic hand set right? O: it is B1877 J: B1877 is Driver side Pretensioner circuit open, why do we need to replace both side? O: Let me call you back after I ask tech After 10 minutes, he called back O: Error code it like that, but we recommend you to replace both J: How much is that? O: It is $980 J: IS this including diagnostic??? O: No, it is not including diagnostic, in total, you have to add diagnostic charge as we.ll J: How much is new pretensioner part per piece? O: it is $49, but we have to remove all the seat and rewiring everything... you know? J: (So you are charging 900$ only for labor huh? I can remove the seat in 10 minutes this is BS) I don't get it, error code is saying driver side only and it does not make any sense logically O: Yeah but we recommend to you to do that for safety concern. J: My wife is pregnant and I also do not want any safety concern, but it just does not make sense. Is it recommendation or regulation to do it? O: Not sure, let me ask tech, I will call you back He called me back after another 10 minutes again O: It is recommendation, but you should do both side. We did "PIN POINT" diagnostic and measured both pretensioner resistance, and both were too high. J: I will just do driver side then how much is it? O: $680, and if the light comes back you will need to pay diagnostic again and another $680 (At this point he was trying to scare me) J: You know not everyone is wealthy enough, and easily pay $800 or $1000. O: I do understand, but I'm giving you better option for your safe. If you do both side, I will give you $800 for it. J: (Well, the price is very flexible huh as you needed?) Thanks for offer, but I will still do the driver side only. After I hang up the phone, I felt so much unethical and manipulative, and started to search on airbag light issue. Many people said I should check the yellow pretensioner connector below the seat. Also the error code was saying "Circuit Open" so I was also wondering if it was disconnected. I called back and told him that my wife needs the car right now, and he was trying to convince me, but I keep told him that I need the car right now, and will bring back tomorrow. So could pick it up. After I came back home, I checked bottom of seat and found the yellow connector. I pulled it a bit but it was completely and unexpectedly pulled out without any unhook!! This little connector should have a hook, and it should hold it tight, but I did not feel anything like that. I fully plugged it back, and I heard that "Click" sound by hooking it up. I was like "what the heck!" it is very nicely just unhooked as if someone did it intentionally. I started my car and waited for 5 minutes, but airbag light never came back on!! This made me totally get mad, and also want to get $155 from them for doing nothing but so called "Pin Point Diagnostic" If they really did the pin point diagnostic why they did not figure this out? Why my airbag light came up right after break service from them? I do not have the answer, but I'm sure not I'm feeling so much unethical and manipulative from their service!!!! BE AWARE OF THEM THEY JUST THINK YOU AS MONEY NOT HUMAN BEING! More
I took my fiancé's car to get it's regularly scheduled maintenance and when we picked up the car and drove it out of the dealership, the left rear wheel fell off of the car. Apparently they forg scheduled maintenance and when we picked up the car and drove it out of the dealership, the left rear wheel fell off of the car. Apparently they forgot to put the lug nuts on the wheel. Luckily there was only cosmetic damage to the wheel and to a part of the rotor. They replaced the wheel but were not able to locate the part of the rotor that was damaged and said they would contact us when they have it. It's been over a month since they told us that they didn't have that part and I still haven't heard a thing. Not only were they neglectful in their initial service but they have not completely fixed the problem that they caused. I will not go back to this dealership again! More
