Great dealership to work with! Purchased a new 2019 Honda Odyssey from Sunny King Honda at the end of December 2018. This dealership was referred to us by a friend after we had a no Purchased a new 2019 Honda Odyssey from Sunny King Honda at the end of December 2018. This dealership was referred to us by a friend after we had a not so great experience with one of the Birmingham, AL area dealers. We dealt with Micah Lawley, we spoke before we went in as I called specifically about a van listed in their inventory. I made an offer of what I was willing to pay to make the deal happen by year end, we pretty much had everything work out ahead of time over the phone. I was extremely pleased to find once we got there that they didn’t play games with the pricing or do the “dealer add-ons” that all of the sudden jump the price up thousands of dollars. The deal we discussed was what we got when we got to the dealership. The van we were looking at had been a demo, and had a few blemishes they hadn’t noticed. They went above and beyond to try and correct the issues and make everything right. After some discussion, we decided against the demo and wound up getting a great deal on a similar van. We wound up paying a little more than the number I had in mind, but was still a great deal and we felt they were doing all they could to remedy the situation with the demo we were initially going to purchase. They did not try to upsell us... they were trying to make us a good deal. I was fine paying for a little more content in the vehicle and at the end of the day we still got a great deal. Best thing about our experience... everyone was totally transparent and upfront. I don’t particularly like working with dealerships or the whole car-buying experience. I would rather agree to a price, get in, get out, and be on my way. Too many places give your the “just come in and we’ll see what we can work out”, which too often winds up being a 4 hour ordeal just to look a few cars, test drive, get a number on a trade, and then finally negotiate pricing and eventually find out the “dealer extras” put the car way beyond the dealer’s advertised specials. One place we went to wouldn’t even let us discuss numbers with the sales manager until we signed an agreement to purchase that day (if we could come to an agreement). This was not our experience with Sunny King Honda. This car buying experience was way different that most I’ve had in the past. Transparency: they didn’t slip in a bunch of “dealer add-ons” that were not advertised in the price or not discussed in initial negotiations. There are options they will recommend that are not int he MSRP but Micah was upfront about what everything was and gave us the option to either opt in or opt out. Many dealers will tell you this stuff is already installed on the vehicle or is mandatory. Fair Pricing: we felt we got a good deal, overall not significantly better than what we priced in Bham area, but we got a lot of vehicle content for what we paid. No Pressure: from the Sales Associate, to Sales Manager, to Finance Manager, no one was pushy, no one tried to sell us anything we didn’t want. In the past I have been called stupid by a dealer finance manager for declining an extended warranty on a used car. I have never gotten to the closing with the Finance Manager at any dealership without a hard sell on financing, warranties, extras, etc... Not the case here. Won’t waste your time: Micah and I had a deal worked out in principle before we even went out. After we did decide to purchase they had us in and out. We were there a total of 2hrs which included a lot of demo time on all the electronic systems on the new van. Would definitely recommend Sunny King Honda. More
