Purchased a Pre-owned Honda Pilot with over 100k, this was my daughter's first car purchase, within 2 weeks needed a new alternator, they would do a few diagnostic testing to confirm what my mechanic said was my daughter's first car purchase, within 2 weeks needed a new alternator, they would do a few diagnostic testing to confirm what my mechanic said, but I would have to pay for it. I ended up paying out of pocket to my mechanic, 4 weeks later, rear brakes went and needed rotors as well, paid my mechanic out of pocket 350 and now 5 weeks later O2 sensor went, again 180 out of pocket!!! Will never go back there to buy any vehicle in the future. They promised to repair the back tailgate, still not repaired, no phone call, nothing! Can not wait to see what happens next week with it!!! Always pleased here. When we bought our new Crosstrek we also purchased the lifetime oil/filter deal there. Obviously, we trust them explicitly with our vehicle. Today’s bill was $159. Tire pressure was low and different on all 4 tires. Sales: twice we made same-day appointment to drive a new car on the before purchasing. Once arriving, it wasn’t there. No explanation, no apologies. In short, whether attempting to purchase or servicing the car you purchased from them, Carbone Subaru of Troy is the worst dealer I’ve ever experienced. More
I wish I could leave negative stars after our experience. My fiancé went to carbone to purchase a used car. We don’t have the best credit but they worked with us and for that we were appreciative. However wh My fiancé went to carbone to purchase a used car. We don’t have the best credit but they worked with us and for that we were appreciative. However when my fiancé was driving away with the new car one of the wheels was wobbling and almost FELL OFF! Mind you this was a certified car that apparently passed inspection. Unbelievable!! They didn’t inspect a xxxxin thing. Now we have owned the car for 5 minutes and now needs to go to the shop for a week before they can get parts. xxxxxxxx. Then they called and said the bank said you need to raise your car insurance, ummmm never had a bank tell me that in my life. How does raising your insurance rates help the loan? THEN when we said forget it we don’t want it we don’t feel safe they told my fiancé he was acting poorly after everything they did for him. EXCUSE ME!!!! He could have died, we could have died how dare you say that when you put his life and the life of his fiancé and our kids at stake because you don’t inspect your vehicles. When we went back to pick up the car we were trading we then had to wait again because they peeled off our inspection sticker so we had to now wait for an inspection. And just a note that they hadn’t even inspected our trade but they listed it for sale on their website, not surprised that’s probably why they did with the car we bought. This dealership is appalling and we will ABSOLUTELY be going to the better business bureau. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!!! At least for your own safety because it was very clear they don’t care and don’t inspect anything. Then put the blame on you if you don’t want their unsafe vehicles. Absolutely disgusting, but I’m sure no one there loses sleep at night. More
My recent experience buying a car from Carbone Subaru of Troy was joyful, which is not something I thought I'd ever say in my lifetime. As a young woman, buying a car from a dealership has proved to be difficult time after time. I've felt taken advantage of and just another inexperienced buyer easy to target; this has left me loathing the processing and feeling incredibly uneasy. I've learned all the "games" over the years, and even then, buying a car is my #1 most hated human experience. Not recently -- I want to share why! My spouse had purchased a car the week earlier from Vito (highly recommended!), and my partner had a great experience. I immediately felt like I would be taken care of, too, when I reached out to my sales associate. There were no games, no elaborate marketing strategies -- just an easy, open, and honest process. Vito introduced me to Jay the Used Cars Manager. I wish I had the words to describe how grateful I am to have worked with Jay. From the moment I sat down in his car, he took care of me. I didn't once feel like I was playing a "game," but like my family's needs mattered. He asked me candidly what I financially needed to make this a comfortable process. Not only did he see and hear me, but he was able to offer me more money on my trade which impacted my payments to meet what I needed. Jay's compassion was the missing ingredient in all of my previous experiences. Every step of the buying process was made personal, and for that, I am incredibly grateful. To anyone considering buying a car from these folks, please know you won't be disappointed. It's not just a car sale; it's bigger than that. You will meet a caring team dedicated to meeting the individual needs of their clients, and you won't find that anywhere else. I can't wait to send my friends and family down to Carbone Subaru of Troy. More
Dishonest and disappointing would be the concise way to sum up my last visit to Carbone. It will take much longer to give the full details. I had previously bought 3 new cars from this dealership and this sum up my last visit to Carbone. It will take much longer to give the full details. I had previously bought 3 new cars from this dealership and this would have been my 4th. We worked with salesman Jimmer Kisselburgh and he was terrific! That's about the only good thing I have to say about the experience. We received an email stating Carbone would give me a trade-in value of $35,000 to $39,000 for my 2020 Outback with 12,000 miles. After contacting other dealers, we gave Carbone the last shot at it and they came in at $35,300 for my car. At the time (May) there was a promotion on the Subaru site giving $500 off a new car. We mentioned this and were told that they couldn't put it on the financial sheet then because we didn't have the actual car, therefore no VIN. We were told we would get the extra $500 when the car came in. Not believing them, we asked for it in writing. About 8 weeks later, June 30, we get a call from Jimmer stating the car had arrived and they'd like to finish the deal that same day. So I change my plans, clean out my car and go there. We waited quite a while for the sales manager. Once we got in his office I signed a lot of paperwork and the last part was the financials. We noticed the $500 was not taken off and he had no idea what we were talking about. Jimmer comes in and tells the sales manager he remembered the conversation and we showed them the email. So then they call in Aram, the finance manager, who Jimmer worked with when we ordered the car. He asked us if we had a code or coupon, which we did not. Jimmer called Subaru and got nowhere. Aram, VERY arrogantly said he would split the difference and give us $250 off. That wasn't going to work for us because they had promised $500, so we said no deal. Earlier, all of the insurance information was changed and the plates had already been moved over to the new car. All of that had to be reversed. It was a complete waste of several hours. For $250, Aram and Carbone have lost a repeat customer. I love my Outback and will likely buy several more in my lifetime. The 3 previous purchases went very smoothly and we felt we were dealt with honestly and fairly. Not this time! I emailed Paul Lynch, the GM, and have not received a response. I called his office today and left a message. All of this reflects so poorly on them and I would think he'd like to know about it. I looked on their website and don't see the car available so they likely already sold it which is great for them in the short term, but will that buyer end up purchasing 3 more vehicles from Carbone? Who knows, but it proves that loyalty means nothing these days. BEWARE OF DISHONEST PRACTICES AT THIS DEALERSHIP. Others have stated the same thing, so this isn't a fluke. More
While our sales woman was very pleasant, when purchasing a new car the management failed to present to us, or acknowledge, their own published favorable offer as a starting point for negotiations. This is t a new car the management failed to present to us, or acknowledge, their own published favorable offer as a starting point for negotiations. This is the third car that we have purchased from this dealer and we were treated fairly in the past, but, while they have kept the Carbone name, this dealer is now under new ownership and management and, obviously, does not proceed in anywhere near a professional manner that respects good business practices.
