Hello Sir, We are certainly understanding of your frustration and want to help you in any way possible. I had a conversation with everyone involved with the sale of this vehicle to make sure that we are standing by our commitment to professionalism and integrity in our business. Here are a few things to address your concerns. 1. You bought the car from us in February and it is now mid-June. It is quite possible that this compressor failure occurred after we inspected the vehicle. Considering the fact that this particular vehicle is approaching 200,000 miles and is a non-Subaru, this is not unlikely. 2. The car you bought is an "as is" vehicle. This is not us "throwing" that at you, but when you bought the car you understood this and we made it clear. We are absolutely concerned for issues relating to safety and security of the vehicle you own, and we trust that your vehicle continues to run safely based on how you purchased the vehicle from us. 3. You are obviously more than just "one out of town buyer" to us. We took time to carefully assess your needs and sit down with you throughout the process, and also continue to explain the nature of your repair and try to work with you. We do take your satisfaction seriously and want to do right by you in whatever way we can. Given the nature of this repair, the time elapsed since you purchased the vehicle and the "as is" status of your purchase, it is not a reasonable expectation for us to cover these repair costs for you, in part or in full. 4. With all of that in mind, we will repair your car for almost 500$ less than what the other dealer quoted you. Our estimate is $2,081 and we could have the part in three days or less. If this option is appealing to you, you can contact us at any time and we can have your vehicle repaired shortly. While we absolutely understand your frustration and want to serve you in the best way possible, we hope that you understand that we cannot cover the tertiary repair costs of anything that fails on a used vehicle, especially if there is a great possibility that the failure occurred after we sold the vehicle.
