This was the worst experience purchasing a vehicle. I can't believe a business would swindle their customers like this. I ended up having to spend another $5,000.00 to make this car road worthy. This company should not be in business. I spent $23,000.00 for the vehicle. This was not a cheap car. The pictures were taken to hide the faults and lies told to sell the car online. Research who you are doing business with before saying yes. I purchase a good car with 100k on it then drive for another 100k to give the car away to someone who needs it. I will rent a spot across the street from Subaru of Rochester/Penz Auto to place the car. I will have a sign on the vehicle that says DO NOT BUY FROM SUBARU OF ROCHESTER/PENZ AUTO. More
On May 29th I purchased a 14’ Nissan Murano from Subaru of Rochester as is. During the titling and financing portion of the sale Elliot Norwood had initially made several mistakes explaining and processing of Rochester as is. In mid-August I had not received my title and contacted the financing department regarding the title for the vehicle and registration. I was told by Elliot Norwood that he would forward my requests and questions to the appropriate department. After 1 week of not hearing anything, I again reached out with my concerns. Within a couple days later I received a copy of the registration card but was given no information about my title. On September 4th the vehicle I purchased from Subaru of Rochester broke down leaving my family and I stranded on the freeway out of town from where we are living resulting in a large tow bill. Turns out the vehicle’s transmission failed, and needs replaced, the lower front control arms needed replaced and there is active recall on a component with the power steering system that could lead to an increase in the potential for fire. All in all, close to nearly $10,000 in repair costs, more than what I’m currently financing on the vehicle for the next 5 years. I reached out to Subaru of Rochester regarding potentially helping with repair costs and I still had not received my title. After speaking with a person in financing asking about my title, I gave her my name and info and when asked the title she simply stated “oh, it hasn’t been processed.” Subaru of Rochester failed to put the correct information on the title and submit it to the state of Minnesota nearly 3 months after purchase and after being questioned about it a month earlier. Leaving me with a vehicle I’m upside down in, had no way to sell or do anything with due to their lack of professionalism and incompetent manner handling paperwork. Travis Shallbetter learning of my situation brought my case to be discussed to leadership. Days later without a running vehicle, still without a title, and no response back from Subaru of Rochester’s leadership team I received a phone call from Brandon Wilson, who told me he was choosing not to extend a helping hand to a customer in need with repairs costs, would not help with a rental till Subaru of Rochester resolved their mistakes in getting me my title in a reasonable time frame. More
The worst service and management - we brought our Subaru in while under warranty because it was burning oil. They replaced a part and charged us for it without running the actual diagnostic test. When we returned because we were still having an issue a few months later (just out of warranty at this point by 1000 miles) they decided to run the diagnostic test then, with no explanation as to why they didn't do it the first time, and now want to charge us 5000-6000 to fix the problem. They have been stringing us along for months now telling us they are trying to do everything they can to help us with the warranty since we originally brought it in before the warranty was up. The manager doesn't return calls, you have to actual drive there to talk to them. They told Subaru that we're missing service records we've already provided to them. They told the claim service agent we're working with that they are going to help us out, meanwhile telling us they aren't. When the claims agent called the manager to ask why it was being denied, the response was that they couldn't tell us or her - despite the fact that they work for the same company. Seems like they charged us for something that didn't need to be replaced, pushed us out of warranty, and now they are just trying to ignore us and the claims agent? They have had zero response as to why this was handled the way it was or why they didn't run the full diagnostic in the first place. Awful experience, awful management. We would not recommend this place, nor would we return. More
