I had a rear end collision that was repaired by Dwight Harrison VW. After a series of recent heavy rain events I noticed that water was accumulating in my floor boards and in the rear wheel well. Puttin Harrison VW. After a series of recent heavy rain events I noticed that water was accumulating in my floor boards and in the rear wheel well. Putting 2 and 2 together I called the dealership to see if they would handle the problem. Tom Mann, the service department manager, took a personal interest in my issue and had me bring my car in the same day. Since I was going to be without a vehicle for the duration of the diagnosis he set my up with a "loner" car so I wouldn't have to bother with arranging for alternative means of travel. I would recommend that if you need a VW serviced give Tom or Kim a call over at Stone Mountain VW. They are genuinely good people. More
On Sunday, March 3rd, I wanted to look at cars and it was very difficult to find a dealership that was actually open on a Sundays. I was looking for a new Tourareg and I know that they are hard to find in A very difficult to find a dealership that was actually open on a Sundays. I was looking for a new Tourareg and I know that they are hard to find in Atlanta as they are not a mass production car. I googled open VW dealerships and Stone Mountain VW came up. I called and was transferred to Sam Barry who answered the phone very enthusiastically and was very helpful to the point that I was willng to make the 30 mile drive to Stone Mountain to see the cars he had in inventory. Although I had never met Sam prior to my phone call, he immediately knew who I was when I went in, his outgoing and friendly personality put me at ease immediately and made me very excited to see the Touraregs we had discussed prior to my visit. Sam did not waste my time doing tons of preliminary paperwork, he just pulled the car up we discussed and took my DL and we went for a drive. I was not planning on a purchase that day as I wanted to comparison shop but after dealing with Sam, it was quickly apparent to me that I was not going to get a better deal elsewhere. Please bear in mind that I have owned nearly 60 cars (59 to be exact) in my lifetime so I am a seasoned car buyer.. :) I was given a very fair trade on my 4 month old Mercedes and a great discount on the Tourareg as well as an excellent interest rate. I could have wrapped it up on Sunday but was in a rush to get home as I had plans that night. Sam just put dealer tags on my new car and I drove it home that night. I came back on Monday and had the car detailed and we hammered out the final price and additional warranties. I dealt directly with George Brue as well as Sam on the pricing and they came up with a fantastic deal I could not refuse. I have owned nearly every high end luxury line vehicle (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar etc) and really appreciated the time and genuine interest they took in making this deal come together. I think that SM Volkswagen is a hidden gem, its a small dealership that can really personalize their service that can often times be lost in a mass sales environment. My final dealings was with Kurt Mechling in finance and truly was a pleasure, he was very efficient and gave me a great deal on my gap and tire and wheel warranty (with the help of George Brue) and was able to lower my interest rate by about .25% (not a huge amount) and I was very grateful for the gesture. My car was delivered in spotless condition and the detail guy stood there while I inspected it and went over it, INCREDIBLE! Sam took a good bit of time going over all the options and how to use them and additionally set up a 3 month visit to go over the car again. In my many, many car dealings, this is one of the best experiences I could have ever asked for. If you live intown and are concerned about the distance, please know that it was well worth the journey. Great job Sam, George and Kurt, Thank you, I love my car! Jim More
The dealership exceeded our expectations and made the car buying experience a nice one. We were treated as professionals by professionals, who were more interested in answering our questions and finding wha buying experience a nice one. From start to finish is was a pleasure working with Stone Mountain VW. Everyone was very respectful. No high pressure sales there at all. I came in for a test drive but was not ready to buy as I had not don Mountain VW. Everyone was very respectful. No high pressure sales there at all. I came in for a test drive but was not ready to buy as I had not done my homework yet as far as pricing is concerned. I was presented with an offer but did not want to commit because of that reason. After a couple of days I called with a counter offer and after 2 more phone calls we were able to come to an agreement. Again, no high pressure sales tactics from anyone. Everyone was extremely helpful, nice and friendly. Jean Fenelon was a pleasure to work with and also Sam Barry who took over because Jean was with a customer when I came in to actually buy the car. I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed the car buying process with Stone Mountain VW. More
Austin made a good impression on me. I was happy to work with him. Rick - I know you will see this so I will address you personally. You made a poor first impression because when I was introduced t work with him. Rick - I know you will see this so I will address you personally. You made a poor first impression because when I was introduced to you I was not told what your role was. When you reached to shake my hand you then turned your head away for an extended time to talk to another employee, not looking at me while we were shaking hands. These are little things, but they make an impression, so I offer the critique with kindness. You did overcome the bad first impression by your EXCEPTIONAL post sale service. As far as the overall experience, I can only give you a "good" score. Your email prompting this survey stated your business model was "designed to eliminate much of the hassle traditionally associated with car sales". Think about my experience..... *I was shown a price very much above market value by either mine or your measure. *You countered with a "best offer" price which I still believed to be high, my gut told me to pass. We thanked each other and wished each other well, I intended to head out. *I was enjoying chatting with Austin about other matters when you returned with another offer. The final price was nearly cut in half from the first price (2600 from 4900). These are the "hassle(s) traditionally associated with car sales". If you truly want to "eliminate much of the hassle traditionally associated with car sales", you need to execute a different method. The post sale experience was exceptional and it will bring me back to your store and will allow me to refer others to you with confidence. Rick, Austin, and everyone I talked with went out of there way to help. I was truly impressed. More
Let me start with the back story. My car was having an issue with cranking that started 6 to 8 months ago. I took it in for service (with what was then Dwight Harrison VW) Of course my car had a phantom issue with cranking that started 6 to 8 months ago. I took it in for service (with what was then Dwight Harrison VW) Of course my car had a phantom issue that no one could pinpoint. The service department spent a good bit of time trying to find the problem. After two days, I received a phone call that they felt that the issue was a fuel valve (though they didn't have hard proof) and "if it was their car" they would replace it, so I agreed. I never felt pressured or uncomfortable with this diagnosis and felt service had done their best to find the issue. I was grateful they were honest with me, in telling me they weren't 100% positive this was the issue. They replaced the valve and I hadn't had any problems until a few weeks ago. About four weeks ago, after a day of running errands, I go to crank my car and it sputters and dies. I recognize the symptom immediately. I let it sit for 30 minutes, try it again (nothing), and then call a tow truck. I called (what is now Stone Mountain VW) to let them know my car's on its way. I spoke with Alena and told her the back story of my car. She reminded me of the diagnosis fee (which I was aware of) and said they would look at it first thing in the morning. When I received her call, the next day, she was baffled. My car cranked with no problem. Determined to find the problem, she asked to keep it. I told Alena they could have it for the day, but I had to work (an hour away) the rest of the week. At the end of the day, she called and told me they've found nothing so far. I could tell she didn't want to give it back. She was uncomfortable with me driving, so far away, with the chance of it leaving me stranded. She told me she would offer me a loner, but they were all out. I had to have a car, so I had take my chances. I told her I would bring it back in as soon as I could. Alena then told me there would be no diagnosis fee, since they hadn't found anything yet. Last weekend, my car decided to strand me again. Luckily it was in my driveway this time. As soon as it would crank, I drove it to the dealer, filled out the key envelope, and left the car in front of the bay. Monday, mid-morning, Alena calls me all excited. My car through 6 codes!!! She said they started narrowing down the issues that all 6 codes had in common. They felt certain the fuel sensor (over $250.00) had started going bad. Apparently, "felt certain", wasn't good enough. Once they got it out and replaced, they DISSECTED the old sensor. They found one of the microcircuits had a crack in it. This made them sure it was the fuel sensor. Alena then told me because this had been an ongoing issue for me, she was going to discount the total! When I went in to pay, that evening, she was there with a big grin and the fuel sensor in hand. She "had to show it to me!" Not only was the part tiny (about 2 inches) the crack was almost invisible. It was very obvious they were determined to find the problem, and "fairly certain" wasn't good enough for this service team. I will admit I was nervous about the change in ownership. I had never had a bad experience with Dwight Harrison and I was afraid things might have changed. I feel things have changed -for the BETTER! While it's never convenient or pleasant to have a broken car, Stone Mountain VW service made a bad situation bearable. Alena is a great addition to your service department. She truly believes in customer service and this is a rare quality in any, present day, service industry. She's upbeat, smiley and empathetic. I can only imagine these qualities are difficult to possess, in an industry where customers typically only come in because something is wrong. She's worth whatever it takes to keep her there!!! More
Not satisfied with my service at all! I have been going to Dwight Harrison Volkswagen Service Dept. for 6 years and the service has gotten progessively worse over the years. I took my car in for scheduled to Dwight Harrison Volkswagen Service Dept. for 6 years and the service has gotten progessively worse over the years. I took my car in for scheduled maintenance and they informed me that I needed to pay over $1000.00 to fix my car! How strange! I have taken my car to every scheduled maintenance before that. Well after “fixing” my car I heard a strange noise that I had never heard before. Called the service department and they said they were too busy to make an appointment on a certain day. So I went up there and they told me that nothing was wrong and I needed 4 new tires for 400.00. Went to Goodyear and they informed me that it was my struts and shocks and I also needed an alignment. How strange when just 2 weeks ago Volkswagen said that those items were fine on my car. Would not recommend their services! More
Everything was going GREAT. Salesman was very personable, everyone was very nice. We signed for the car and went home....UNTIL we found out that this dealership botched our contract by inflating the agreed o everyone was very nice. We signed for the car and went home....UNTIL we found out that this dealership botched our contract by inflating the agreed on price of the car by $2800 WITHOUT TELLING US! They first tried to convince my hubby that the price was so high only because of taxes, etc. until we got home and I saw the WRONG sales price on the contract! This price was BEFORE they added tax, title, and etc! I called and they said it had to do with our trade in - when they had agreed to pay off our trade so that we would only have to pay the sales price of the car! We have that deal on the trade in IN WRITING!!! Whats WORSE! Is Sam Barry - our sales person has done NOTHING to stick up for us! In fact he wont take my calls at ALL now and keeps telling me I have to talk to Dwight Harrison - the owner! I keep telling him I have TRIED as I have CALLED and CALLED and Dwight Harrison has not returned ONE CALL I have made - and we bought the car LAST FRIDAY - Today is MONDAY and they said he WENT HOME!!! NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of ME, my request to rectify the situation or my family!!! NOTHING!!!! We ended up paying MORE for a used minivan that was one year old than we would have for a BRAND NEW one that had 0 on the odometer!! DO NOT GO HERE or you will need to hire a LAWYER LIKE I DID!! More
