My family recently purchased a vehicle from Stohlman in Herndon. We wanted to research thoroughly before making a decision, so over the span of 3 or 4 months, we went to to the dealership several times to Herndon. We wanted to research thoroughly before making a decision, so over the span of 3 or 4 months, we went to to the dealership several times to test drive. Rajan was very patient each time and answered our questions thoughtfully, never pressuring us in the typical salesman fashion. In fact, the first time we went in was on a Sunday (they're open the last two Sundays of every month) and everyone was so laid back and casually dressed that it caught us very off-guard, particularly since we had just come from a high-pressure Ford dealership in our area. It was a nice change of pace, though, and I found myself looking forward to going back since Rajan and Gus made us feel so comfortable. When it came time to buy, Gus was straight to the point. He showed us the invoice sheet and that was that. I feel like we got a fair price with no tricks or schemes along the way. They offered a trade-in deal but when the appraisal came out lower than we expected, they didn't try to talk us into taking their offer; they freely acknowledged that if it was appraised higher elsewhere, we should take that offer instead. After we had the papers signed, Rajan walked us through the manual and even helped me sync my mobile phone with the Bluetooth in the new car. And his customer service efforts didn't stop after we made our purchase-- in the weeks following, Rajan has contacted us to ensure there were no problems with the car, called us to let us know when the license plates came in, and screwed them onto the car himself when we went to pick them up. In February 2010, I went here shopping for a new Subaru Forester, and came pretty close to buying one from them. Recently, I discovered that a couple days later this dealer sold a vehicle to another customer, and that their customers loan somehow has ended up on my credit report. I have no idea how this happened, but I'm not happy at all. Since the other customers name and address also appears on my credit report, I'm hoping this will be easy to resolve. The personal information that I provided to them while shopping for a vehicle should have been better cared for. 11/8/2011 Today I received a letter from Equifax stating that Subaru/Chase had provided information that caused Equifax to verify again that this dealers customers loan is assigned to my credit. This dealer offered to help me resolve this error as a result of my comments here. Now I'm thinking that I will have to obtain an attorney to get this problem resolved. Using my credit information to finance another customer's loan has to be illegal? More
Terry and Mark did an excellent job handling my car purchase. We have purchased two Subarus from Stohlman's of Herndon ,VA and are very pleased with the purchases with Sharon, and the service we have had done on both cars. One car is a 2005 Outback; the other is a 201 ,VA and are very pleased with the purchases with Sharon, and the service we have had done on both cars. We have always had both cars serviced at this location and are pleased with the service, professionalism and friendleness of all I have mentioned, plus all the other employees I have had dealings with or just saying 'hello' to. From the receptionist to the sales and supporting staff, this place was friendly, relaxing and easy to work with. This was in stark contrast to some other sleazy dealers I encountered. I was a well-informed buyer who did tons of research before shopping. I wasn't sure the Impreza Terry had in stock was the right one for me, but he left a great impression on me during my test drive. He answered every question and was upfront on every answer he gave me (I asked a few questions, already knowing what the answer should be.) When I called a week or so later to tell him I was coming in again to look at the car, he told me it was sold, but he offered me an even better car and deal. I really couldn't believe how easy and painless this process was. For anyone who has experienced pushy (or worse) salespeople, let me tell you that I never felt pressured, belittled or unimportant. There was literally no BS involved with this sale. I kept waiting for the "catch," but there was never a "gotcha" moment. I had the car looked at by a very reputable independent garage, and I had shopped long and wide, so I knew what such a car would go for (even after negotiating down a few other dealers on very similar cars). Again, contrary to what I found at other dealers I had to walk out of, I found Terry and Sharon were straight as arrows with every document. Every number was what was promised, and nothing more. No sneaky business here. I know mine was just one transaction at a busy (but small) dealer, but I would absolutely recommend family and friends visit Terry and Stohlman Herndon for their next vehicle (especially a Subaru). I can't say I got the same exact vibe at the Tyson's location, so stick to Terry and his crew in Herndon. I'm loving my new (used) Impreza, and I feel better again about car buying. I'm so glad I walked out of a deal or two at other places that weren't conducting what I consider good business. I didn't think I could get a good deal from a good dealer, but I got a great car, great price and feel good about where I spent my money. Thanks Terry, Sharon and everyone at Stohlman Herndon for your help and for staying late (I know it benefits both parties, but just saying thanks anyway.) More
