Good afternoon and thank you for contacting us. I did some research on your deal and spoke to the folks that assisted you with your purchase. Your Veracruz had around 85,000 miles when you purchased it and it did check out great in our shop. Unfortunately an altenator does not give symptoms of failing, it is a component that when it fails, does so without showing signs of failure. We did offer you an opportunity to purchase an extended warranty which we highly recommend to anyone purchasing a used vehicle with higher miles. Your sales associate reminded me that your friend who was with you during your purchase advised you NOT to protect your vehicle with an extended warranty. We always do an industry leading inspection on ALL used vehicles that we offer for sale and spend more money reconditioning our used vehicles than most dealers spend. With that said, with so many mechanical components on todays vehicles, things can and do fail and that is why we always recommend an extended warranty. I am sorry that your vehicle had this issue and hope that going forward you don't have additional issues. The Veracruz is a great vehicle and has an outstanding track record. If I can be of service or if you would like to call me to discuss further I am happy to speak with you. I will also see if there is anything we can do on the cost. We appriciate you patronage and I will do whatever I can to assist you. Thank you! Scott DeSimone General Manager sdesimone@stevinsonauto.com

Just found out today that this car had a recall for the same exact reason you guys charged me $855.26 to fix a car I bought 2 months prior to the incident. I bought the car in 76000 Miles not 85000 Miles. You guys claim to always do an industry leading inspection on ALL used vehicles that we offer for sale and spend more money reconditioning our used vehicles than most dealers spend. It's a pity that you guys don't even get educated on Hyundai recalls. Please educate your employees about the following Notice and hopefully you all will hand me back my hard earned money. Recall notice ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE - 11/3/2014 Affecting 61,122 vehicles Summary HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY (HYUNDAI) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2012 VERACRUZ VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM DECEMBER 26, 2006, THROUGH JULY 24, 2012. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE AN OIL LEAK FROM THE FRONT CYLINDER BANK VALVE COVER GASKET. IF THERE IS A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF OIL DROPPED ONTO THE ALTERNATOR, THE ALTERNATOR WILL BE DAMAGED CAUSING THE CHARGING SYSTEM TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. Consequence IF THE ALTERNATOR IS DAMAGED, THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LAMP IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL ILLUMINATE, AND THE ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER AND THE VEHICLE WILL EVENTUALLY STOP OPERATING WHILE BEING DRIVEN. AN UNEXPECTED FAILURE OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE DRIVING INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. Remedy HYUNDAI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT/REPAIR OR REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND THE FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET, FREE OF CHARGE. HYUNDAI SENT OUT AN INTERIM LETTER TO OWNERS ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2014. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-633-5151. HYUNDAI'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 121. Details Issued 11/3/2014 Recall ID 211965 NHTSA campaign # 14V415000 Vehicles affected 61,122 Component affected ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE Note OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV. What to do Recalls occur when a manufacturer or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) determine that a vehicle has a safety related defect. This notice is based on a search of your year, make, model and trim. To confirm whether your specific vehicle was impacted, visit the NHTSA site. Do I have to pay for the repairs? Whether you purchased your car new or bought it used, the manufacturer is typically responsible for fixing any safety defects free of charge. If you’re feeling ambitious and make the repairs on your own, you could be eligible for reimbursement. Here’s the catch: If your car is more than 10 years old, the manufacturer isn’t obligated to fix the issue for free. Some manufacturers will choose to do so anyway, so it’s worth asking. Keep in mind that you may also be charged for any additional repairs you consent to that fall outside the scope of the recall. Paying out-of-pocket for these kinds of expenses is never fun, but we recommend addressing safety issues as they happen. After all, you can’t really put a price on safety. Thanks, B Shrestha

Check out the links below: https://autoservice.hyundaiusa.com/Campaign121/MicroSiteTemplate/MicroSiteTemplateVINValidate/1279 After entering my VIN number, this is what I am getting. Your Vehicle is Affected. Your vehicle is affected by the Veracruz Valve Cover Gasket Recall Campaign. To schedule an appointment with your preferred Hyundai Dealer, please enter your zip code below. Hyundai Motor America is conducting a safety recall to repair a valve cover engine oil leak on certain 2007 through 2012 model year Hyundai Veracruz vehicles produced beginning on December 26, 2006 through July 24, 2012. Hyundai informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on July 8, 2014 and is initiating this action to ensure the safety and quality of its vehicles and the continued satisfaction of its customers. An investigation by Hyundai has determined that engine oil can leak from the front cylinder bank’s valve cover gasket. If a sufficient amount of oil drips on to the alternator, the alternator can be damaged resulting in the charging system becoming inoperative. The charging system warning lamp in the cluster will then illuminate. The vehicle will run on battery power until the battery voltage drops below the Engine Control Module’s minimum operational voltage. If this occurs, the engine will shut off and not restart. What will Hyundai do? Your Hyundai dealer will replace the front (LH) valve cover gasket (per Campaign 121). The dealer will also inspect and if needed, replace the alternator if there are any signs of oil contamination. This will be performed free of charge. Please don't forget to copy and paste the following link on your preferred browser: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2014/RCONL-14V415-9029.pdf Thanks, B Shrestha Note: The total cost of the Vehicle was $17,635.80 purchased on 04/30/2016 and it has 76,652 Miles on the Odometer not 85,000 and Paid an additional $855.26 on 07/07/2016. I requested you guys to consider my situation, but you guys charged me the full amount. Can you guys rectify the situation or do I have to call the 855 6713059 number?
