I shopped at my local VW dealer and was told that VW cars were not sold below sticker price but that maybe I could get $500 off. I then went to the internet and requested quotes for the car I was looking for were not sold below sticker price but that maybe I could get $500 off. I then went to the internet and requested quotes for the car I was looking for. Steve White VW contacted me immediately with a very a very low quote which I accepted and purchased the car. The staff was extremely helpful and my salesman was quite knowledgeable. The entire process was painless. They provided phone follow up and offered to inspect the car and top off all fluids in 90 days. I asked for some accessories for the car and my salesman obtained them for me and helped install them. At no time was I pressured in any way. I felt quite comfortable with the purchase experience. More
I own two VW vehicles: A 2003 GTI and a 1978 Westfalia Camper. I brought the camper to the dealership in March, 2008 for service and was directed to a local mechanic in Easley, SC, as such a vehicle was n Camper. I brought the camper to the dealership in March, 2008 for service and was directed to a local mechanic in Easley, SC, as such a vehicle was no longer serviced at the dealer level. I was satisfied with the local mechanic's work on the Westfalia. As he was recommended by the dealer, and as my GTI was no longer under warranty, I decided to get it serviced by him as well. In August, 2008, I had the local mechanic perform a 40K service on my GTI. I had noticed a gradual decline in its MPG rate and brought this to his attention as an indication of the engine becoming less efficient. He turned it up and the MPG rate improved. In October, 2008 the fuel pump failed. The local mechanic replaced it. I advised him that after that replacement the fuel gauge had become unreliable. In addition, confoundedly, the new fuel pump failed within days. He replaced it, but the fuel gauge remained unreliable and I now also detected a whine which heretofore had not be present. I deduced that there should have been no noise from a new fuel pump. I brought these issues to his attention on several occasions, but nothing changed. The car ran reasonably well although I saw a loss of mpg rate over time. I took the car back to him when it turned 50K for service, again asking his advice re the fuel gauge. Up to that time he had never mentioned the 'sending unit". I consider myself a loyal customer, however, I began to question the local mechanic's ethics. I brought the GTI back to Steve White's VW dealership recently in hopes of putting my mind at ease. I had always received first class service there and, frankly, rued the day I went somewhere else. I was very pleased by the quality of service I received. I might add that a very clear explanation was given me by Mr. Simpkins, Service Advisor, as to the issue of how a 'sending unit' can be screwed up. Since then the GTI has been running like it should, snapping my head back with its torque, bringing a smile to my old face. The jury is still out on the MPG rate, and the fuel gauge remains screwed up, and the whine is still there, but I feel a whole lot better. Seems to me everyone I have encountered at Steve White Motors are happy folks. Its a credit to the company in these hard times. Thank you, W.S.Kibler More
There was no sales pressure during our visits to the dealership. On the contrary, the focus was on identifying our needs concerning the purchase of a new car and then matching those to the vehicles avai dealership. On the contrary, the focus was on identifying our needs concerning the purchase of a new car and then matching those to the vehicles available. Test drives were quickly arranged, and the route chosen provided an excellent opportunity to evaluate each car over residential, city and highway driving. Grover was courteous and helpful and a pleasure to do business with. More
This was a big step for us choosing a diesel auto. We have had many VW's and know they are quality cars. The experience at Steve White was very positive, we did not feel pressured at any time even thoug have had many VW's and know they are quality cars. The experience at Steve White was very positive, we did not feel pressured at any time even though we are not impulse buyers. We love our new car, and I even filled it up and did not put regular gas, but remembered to use diesel fuel. More
