I am retired, and live in Palm Desert, CA. I bought a used 2018 Lexus LS500 from Sterling McCall Toyota off the internet. I flew into Hobby airport and picked up the car 4/26/2025. I noticed u I bought a used 2018 Lexus LS500 from Sterling McCall Toyota off the internet. I flew into Hobby airport and picked up the car 4/26/2025. I noticed undisclosed curb rash on the wheels and sun damage to the black glass panels between the doors. I drove the car 1500 miles home. Two days after I got home I took the Lexus to a local wheel repair place to have the wheels repaired. It cost me $700 to have all the wheel damage sanded off and refinished. When I picked up the car I was told I had 2 wrong tires on the car. The $92,000 car was built and sold new with run flat tires, no spare tire or jack. Sterling McCall replaced 2 of the run flat tires with the cheapest regular Goodyear tire that could be purchased. In addition, they replaced the 4 locking lug nuts (I guess they lost the key) with 4 of the wrong size, which could be unscrewed by hand, the ends don't fit into the wheel holes. The replacement of the 2 tires and lug nuts were documented in the paperwork I was given by the dealership. I went to Discount Tire here and was quoted $1100 for 2 new Bridgestone tires that would match the two already on it. I then tried to contact Martin Morcho, the general manager, Mr. Mocho had emailed me during the buying process telling me about the transparency of Sterling McCall Toyota and that if I had any questions or problems to call him immediately. I emailed and left 2 voice messages. No response. I decided to do one last voice message this morning and finally heard from Mr. Morcho. He said what the dealership did was irrelevant and he would not do anything. The fact that Sterling McCall Toyota installed the wrong tires to save money was my problem. The fact that I now have a car with mixed regular and run flat tires was not his problem. I have since learned Sterling McCall Toyota has a F rating with the Houston Better Business Bureau. Seventeen complaints, all ignored. They also have a 2 of 5 rating with Yelp. I may be an old man, but even in this day and age, I find it impossible to believe a car dealership could send me on a 1500-mile trip home with 2 incorrect tires, and no spare tire or jack to change them. I advise anyone planning on buying anything for the Sterling McCall family of dealerships to do their due diligence before buying from these morally bankrupt people. More
The thing I like the most about this dealership is the professionalism of the service technicians. I bought a 2024 rav4 xse, I paid for it in full, 47,000 dollars after everything. I had everything you could possibly get insurance and warranty wise. At 54,000 miles the engine popped. I had it towed to the nearest dealership at the time, I was currently in a road trip, so i was out of town, approximately 4 1/2 hours from my house. Hao the assistant manager took my case when i walked true the door, Only if i knew this would be the beginning of my biggest nightmare of my life. After being told You are on your own about the rental or Support vehicle, He told me to go to enterprise for a car, after going to enterprise Coming out of my own pocket(Even to be lucky at all to even get a vehicle) I drove back to the dealership, he said they needed me to approve of a 500+ dollar engine tear down because they need to figure out what happen to the car because they thought it was my fault and not mechanic malfunction. They literally ganged up on me and started blaming me for the car. After explaining to them it wasn’t my fault, they told me to come back the next day. I literally drove home and Started trying to figure out my next steps, The next day i was told by them, There was water in the car and that it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. I asked him how that happened and they said it entered through the air filter, which is approximately 3 1/2 almost 4 feet up in the air that was their excuse. I called corporate had them sent their own tech to do their own evaluation. They said that they were gonna stand by the dealership. The dealership service Director called me and told me to call my insurance I did when the insurance provider showed up at the dealership they denied me because they didn’t have sufficient evidence of water damage. I appealed that decision. Somehow the service director convinced the manager to approve of the engine. This took a month and a half to take place once they finally got the engine. They almost got me taken out of my rental through my insurance because they couldn’t get the date of when the car was gonna be fixed correct so I’m almost almost stuck out of the vehicle because of them again, I literally found out my engine was being done on a certain day because of the insurance called me and said I need to return the rental after with the insurance and getting in my rental extended. I have them call me and tell me that the car wouldn’t crank because my transmission is blown. These people are sick obviously my insurance is going to cover the transmission as well but how long is this gonna take? This has been going on over two months. This is unacceptable unprofessional in this place should be investigated. when and if I ever do get my car back, I don’t trust it. btw they quoted me the engine when I thought I was gonna have to pay for it for $25,000. I have pictures and proof of everything because I thought i was gonna have to sue them. I honestly believe deep in my heart, and I don’t say this lightly, I think these people put water in my engine so they didn’t have to cover it. I have lost sleep over this and this has effective every aspect of my life. I have seen my wife in tears and I thank god everyday that the insurance is covering this. More
We bought a 2023 highlander last week and was having issues with deleting the previous owner's profile in the system. After waiting for the salesman for an hour, we were referred to another salesman to look at the issue. But this salesperson could not fix it and asked us to take the car to the service department. No one would help us there and was given an1- 800 number for assistance. After wasting about 2 hours at the dealership we came home. Our daughter looked at the car and was able to fix it in 10 minutes. Horrible customer service. More
