Disappointment is an understatement **Updated Review** ****Please see my updated review and reasoning at the bottom**** I depend on online reviews when it comes to significant purchases like a car, and ****Please see my updated review and reasoning at the bottom**** I depend on online reviews when it comes to significant purchases like a car, and a lot of reviews for Springs Automotive weren't very informative. I hope providing a detailed account of my experience will help those of you considering Springs. It has taken me more than a few months to come to terms with my experience with Springs and provide as much of an objective review as possible. I typically don't buy from used car dealerships. I went to Springs to test drive a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V and spoke with Johnny. He was nice, pretty chatty, but overall helpful. I drove it and things seemed fine. 6th gear stuck a little bit, but I pushed it aside. I previously owned a Nissan similar to this and had a bit of nostalgia, and finding a relatively rare car like this was hard to pass up. I felt pretty comfortable with the fact that these guys have their own shop that has certified techs inspecting the cars, and each of their cars has a 30-day warranty. My first problem came up when I fired up the car to leave the lot. A squeaking noise in the engine bay I hadn't heard before was there. I drove it home to see if it would stop. It didn't. The Springs location is inconvenient, so I set up an appointment with Nissan to check it out. Turns out the AC compressor was bad. I called Springs to have them check it out, and they verified that was it and scheduled a time to bring it in. I was charged $100 for the fix (even though it should have been free as part of a warranty, but I just wanted it done). Springs handled it and I was a happy customer once again. After about another month of driving it around and really listening to/feeling the car, more things came up. A smell of burning oil, creaking in the suspension, shifting into 6th became more difficult, and the 'Check Engine Light' came on. I took it into Nissan again to check on three things in particular, but also to do a full assessment since I was dumb and didn't have one done before actually buying the car. I accept fault that I didn't do it earlier, but figured it's better to do it late than never. The results were appalling, to say the least. The Check Engine light was an error that said the catalytic converter was failing (the car just barely passed emissions, so this is understandable). The front struts were blown out and leaking. Syncros were failing in the transmission (meaning it would have to be replaced sooner than later). That was just the feedback on the three items I had them look at in particular. Other results I received: the front brakes were out of limits and required pads and rotors to be replaced, an axle boot was torn and leaking grease, an oil cooler was leaking and required resealing, dirty brake fluid required exchange, and the rear suspension was worn and needed to be replaced as well. I crafted an email to share my disappointment with all the things I found out was wrong with the car and sent it to the general manager, office manager, branch manager and my sales person. I requested specific problems to fix, but mostly shared my disappointment with how they did business. I received a call from the service manager Mike, asking to bring in the car and review my list of requested fixes (catalytic converter, suspension, axle boot, brakes and oil leak). Mike was very friendly, gave objective feedback on what was their take was, and fixed a few of the items on the list. I had to buy the suspension items myself, though Mike offered to sell those and the labor at cost. Mike had contrary information on some other items, and really only a few items were fixed. Last month they had to fix the suspension they just installed. Also recently, the check engine light has come back on (the third time it has done so), confirmed to be the failed catalytic converter. Springs does not want to fix this even though it was part of the initial list of problems. At this point, I don't want to sink any more money into this car. I purchased a lemon and figure there's only going to be more problems that arise, so I'll fix any small things that come up but will refrain from making any major fixes on this car because something has popped up just about every month I've owned this car (I've owned it for 6 months). I'm constantly concerned about the car and am afraid to drive it out of town with the fear that something else will break down and I'll be stranded. This purchase has affected me so much that I'm already actively looking to replace it. ***The takeaway*** I've only driven the car to and from work and had less than 850 miles on it when I found out about all of those problems. The problems weren't things that just happen overnight, either - even for a 9-year-old car. My experience has made me draw the following conclusions: 1. Springs knowingly and willingly sold me a car that had major problems 2. Springs doesn't conduct inspections beyond visual inspections to assure safety or reliability. If they in fact do, then: 3. Springs failed to fix said major issues and only fixed items that would have been identified during a visual inspection 4. Springs hasn't met their "high standard with regards to [...] how to do business," as the website claims, nor has it "demonstrated our commitment to excellence." 5. Springs is more concerned with their bottom line than it is with providing a product that is safe and reliable for their customers. Having them sell me a lemon is one thing. But what REALLY peeves me is the fact that when I sent my email sharing my disappointment and the problems, the owners/management never reached out to me - only the service manager has. They still to this date haven't followed up to see if my problems have been addressed. If that level of customer services bothers you, you should consider doing business elsewhere. I made a judgment error and bought this car because of its limited availability. If you are just browsing vehicles and have an option to go to a dealership, I would highly advise you to do so. If you want to buy a car from here, I highly advise you pay very close attention to your test drive, but also have it checked out by another shop. Don't let the salesperson talk your ear off during the drive, turn the blower off for the AC/heater, and keep the radio off. ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ ***Update*** As a result of my initial review, the feedback it prompted from Springs, and the work that was completed, I am updating my review from 1 star to 3. Here's why it improved: - I don't think it's often a used car lot would go the lengths of correcting a situation like Springs did. I primarily worked with Mike, who runs the service department, and he was a completely stand-up guy. Always professional, never an attitude, and always straight to the point. I really liked working directly with him since he was respectful and easy to talk to. I can't praise Mike enough and made sure I let him know my appreciation throughout the process. - Mostly, it's because Springs technically didn't have to make repairs, but did it anyway. Granted the repairs weren't that major like a transmission or engine swap, but they could have dodged the whole situation and they didn't. I give them credit for standing up to their word. However, here's why my review didn't improve any more than a 3: - They knowingly sold me a car that was broken. They could have very well done these repairs before selling the car, and save me multiple trips and the probably $200 I spent on getting to and from work. I understand trying to make money off a car, but selling a car with a failing AC compressor and catalytic converter makes it seem like they were more concerned with the bottom line than selling a quality product. So, I think "they sold me a broken car" is a reason in itself. - When I first brought up the problems the car was having, neither the salesperson Johnny nor the management team contacted me to follow up. It wasn't until repair issues had stalled that I made my initial Yelp review, which then prompted a call from the management team. I feel that the reactionary move was for the sake of protecting their reputation than it was for fixing a broken car. Again, I give Springs credit for making the repairs, but I feel that the reason for doing so wasn't for the right reason. I could be entirely wrong about their motive, but that's just how it seems after the way things played out. The initial reaction was what left a sour taste in my mouth. I feel that an apology would have gone a long way to smoothing things over. So in summary, Springs gets a 3 out of 5 stars. I still advise anybody that wants to purchase a vehicle from there to have it looked at by an outside mechanic. I'm not sure if my own particular car was a lemon or if this could be standard practice, but based on negative reviews here as well as my own experience, it just seems like the safe thing to do. I don't hold anything against Springs at this point; I'll just make sure I'm more careful with any future car purchases (from them or anyone else). More

Lied to get me to the lot & then STOLE my car keys I Emailed back and forth before driving an hour to look at an X5. Long story short after showing up and test driving the vehicle the numbers they sen I Emailed back and forth before driving an hour to look at an X5. Long story short after showing up and test driving the vehicle the numbers they sent me via email were lies and they wouldn’t honor them. Then to top it off, when we are ready to leave the salesman proceeds to tell me that the “guy with my keys” is in centennial and can’t bring them back. So they have to go get them. They had known this for some time and made no effort to get them while our salesman was in with his manager working up a deal so after we found out the numbers they emailed us were completely bogus lies we had to sit and wait while our salesman drove across town to get my keys back Then We go out to even find my car and it has been left outside with both windows down, unlocked and all of our personal belongings inside. This place is a joke and responsible for the worst car “shopping” experience of my life. I certainly won’t ever be buying anything from them and wouldn’t send anyone I know here. More
