Car was towed to youngbloods on 11/17 it was a Nissan versa 2016 it was brought in due to my ignition was locked was unable to turn ignition . I was told that they needed the spare key to see if the ignition was in fact not working,which it wasn't, then was told that I had a chip key,which I do not everything on that car is manual windows locks everything. I was also told that neither key would open my door at all,which was untrue I used both keys on door and it unlocked ,I had also stated that when Temps outside are very cold my lock on my door will freeze and you have to warm key up before you can open it , this has been an issue since I bought this car. . I was told that I would have to purchase a new ignition cylinder and a new door lock they gave me a price of 1,000 dollars and was also told that I would have to have new keys made ,which again is untrue I talked with several mechanics around town and they all said the same thing that I would not have to have new keys made for door . Then they charged me $175 for diagnostic ,well what diagnostic ? They did not do anything, why should I be charged 175 ? For what ? For them to tell me ignition was bad ,which was quite obvious. I will not recommend anyone to youngbloods again

Hi Teresa. Thanks for the reply. I did check into this further. Chase explained that when first speaking that he thought it was a programmable key as 99% of our customers have that option. Once you provided the VIN and he saw that this was not the case, he no longer thought that. He did ask for the 2nd key as the key provided was not working. Then the 2nd key did not work either. At that point, my master technician diagnosed further to find that the Ignition Key Lock Set was bad. This is not just the ignition, it includes the entire lock set. Nissan only does this as an OEM factory set so this includes the ignition lock cylinder as well as the door locks which does include new keys as well. The parts for this is around $200, the remaining is all labor as it takes 4 hours to install. 2 hours for the ignition and 2 hours for the doors as they have to be pulled all apart. Could you go somewhere other than a dealer and get just the ignition non OEM part, I'm certain that you can. But for a Nissan dealership to perform the repair, this is the process we are required to take. I do understand your frustration, but this is where we are with this repair. I am being completely honest and straight forward with you. We respect your decision to go elsewhere for the repairs. I just want you to know that we do care about your feelings and really wish you were open to the process we are required to take on these types of repairs. Ok for one my keys do open my doors i used them today and they worked so no i Do Not have to change door locks what so ever and that is not what chase said but what ever just keep ripping people off

As of now, you could use the same key. But once the whole ignition key set is changed out, you would need new keys. The key would no longer work. That work has not yet been performed.
