We've purchased three (3) vehicles from Spreen over the last 10 years, and while we’ve enjoyed our vehicles, the service department has continued to go downhill. With our most recent vehicle, a 2017 Honda last 10 years, and while we’ve enjoyed our vehicles, the service department has continued to go downhill. With our most recent vehicle, a 2017 Honda Pilot, we had problem after problem, and each time we took it in, we are told we would have to pay a non-refundable, $150 diagnostic fee PER ITEM. Even when it was in fact covered under the warranty, we weren't provided with any loaner vehicles, even though upon purchasing the extended warranty, we were told one would be provided so that my wife and infant would be able to get back home and go about their day. One service technician told us there was no loaner program, another said it was suspended due to COVID-19, and the third told us that there was one, but they didn't have any loaners available. When I made my appointments online, they never had record of them, and we were told we would have to be treated as a walk-in, despite showing them an email confirmation of the appointment. We were also told, that when our Apple CarPlay didn't work right, that it was our phone and not the car, because Apple products are garbage, and we should throw away the phone and buy an Android. Most recently our Pilot began experiencing electrical issues, and they couldn't find the problem, and we ended up stranded out of state after being told the vehicle was safe to drive. Upon trading in the Pilot, the Chevy dealer informed us there was a safety recall on the vehicle for the hood latch, which we were never informed of, despite having been there several times for service. I called the dealer and spoke to the Finance Manager regarding our concerns, and was told they would see what they could do to try to make it right. I was handed off to a gentleman named Pete Mattern, who didn't want to take any responsibility, and was told that we were already "taken care of" since they'd made several repairs under the warranty, ignoring the lack of loaner vehicles, suggestions to throw away our phones rather than fixing the problem, safety recall that was never addressed, etc. He did admit that a $150 diagnostic fee per item wasn't right, it's per visit, but then told me that what I was telling him isn't consistent with how his service department operates, essentially telling me I wasn't being honest. When I asked him if it might be worth looking into, his response was that Spreen hasn't been in business as long as they have because they don't take care of their customers. It's unfortunate that this is they way they've chosen to do business. We are now a Chevy family, and were treated right at Tom Bell Chevrolet. Needless to say, Spreen Honda won't be getting any of our future business. Having lived in the Inland Empire my whole life, I plan to pass along the experience to neighbors, friends and family to hopefully prevent them from having to go through a similar experience. More
