I have purchased several brand new luxury cars over the years and have had my share of snobby salesman to last a lifetime... But the trip into Sport tops the cake. I was in the market for a new performance car and ran across the Sport web site. Saw a Corvette that I really liked. I called to set up an appointment and test drive over the phone with Fred. I took time off work to come in for the 1 o'clock appointment, when i get there Fred shows me the car I saw online, and goes over the options etc.. I ask for a test drive and Fred refuses to let me test drive the car. Gives me some excuse that Corvette buyers are very particular about the mileage on their cars and its their store policy is to not to allow for test drives. PISSED, I said, Fred "you could have mentioned that over the phone when we spoke and saved us a lot time." but i keep my cool with Fred, and since I had driven 30 minutes from Bowie to "just look" at a car i had already seen online. I asked him to run some numbers for me. He then tries to sell me the car at total MSRP. no incentives, no rebates.. xxxx not even a 1k off the sticker price. I said thanks but no thanks. Would not buy a stick of chewing gum from Fred or Sport Chevrolet. Dont wast your time here like I did More
I came in to Sport Chevrolet aiming to buy my very first new car after my 1997 Ford Explorer Sport finally gave out and feeling rather intimidated about the task ahead. I came armed with my TrueCar certifi new car after my 1997 Ford Explorer Sport finally gave out and feeling rather intimidated about the task ahead. I came armed with my TrueCar certificate for a 2014 Chevy Sonic LS hatchback (no one would swindle me!), my mom, and the name of the sales rep - Jason - who had called me minutes after I visited TrueCar. I was there because a computer told me it was the closest Chevy dealership to my home and because their online inventory had matches for Sonics I was interested in. Only after the fact, do I realize just how lucky I got. Jason Prieto greeted my mother and I and we were immediately brought back to his office. We talked about why I was there, the features I was interested in (a working car was the main qualification) and which cars in particular I wanted to look at - the Sonic (hatchback only) and the Spark. He also gave me a brief overview of Sport - it's a family owned and run dealership with many long-time employees who are in the business of being straight-forward; they are not into games. Good to hear! Off the bat, Jason mentioned they had a brand new 2013 Sonic sedan (last one on the lot) which I poo-pooed because I was only interested in the hatchback. He was respectful of my choice and didn't press it - we continued on with the preliminary conversations about models and features. Jason was friendly, warm, professional, knowledgeable, and asked all the right questions of me to help narrow down options; I felt like I could trust him pretty quickly. We easily ruled out the Spark as I do too much highway driving to feel truly safe. He then asked about other non-Chevrolet cars I may be looking at and when I mentioned the Honda Fit, Jason offered to have one brought across the street for me to test drive in addition to the Sonics. So convenient!! While test driving a 2014 Sonic LS hatchback in a lovely blue, Jason took me on both a town driving route and a highway route so I could get a solid feel for the car - again, asking all the right questions so I could suss out how I felt and, based on my answers, Jason provided extra knowledge about how the car is built and why it drives the way it does. I loved the way it drove but the features were very basic in this model. No power windows or mirrors, basic radio, etc. We got back to Sport and I upgraded to a 2014 Sonic LT hatchback in the same beautiful blue; this one had a MyLink screen in addition to power windows/mirrors - after driving a '97 Explorer for so long, it looked like a mini spaceship! I went out solo with my mother in the 2014 Sonic LT while Jason prepped the 2014 Honda Fit. I came back feeling that the 2014 Sonic LT hatchback was going to be what I wanted, though it was slightly above my ideal budget. All three of us drove around in the Fit - Jason knew which questions to ask and based on my answers to his questions, I quickly realized that, though nice, the Fit was not for me. Getting back to the lot, I was calculating car payments for the new 2014 Sonic LT hatchback when I asked Jason to swing me by the 2013 Sonic LT sedan he had mentioned earlier - I was there, so I might as well look! Even though he'd already spent all afternoon with me, Jason happily grabbed the keys and walked up to a brand new, bright red 2013 Sonic LT sedan with all the attractive features of the 2014 hatchback I'd just driven. He used the automatic start. I got in it. And I fell in love - though I kept that to myself. The car felt like my car. Jason, my mom and I took it on a bit of a longer highway drive so I could really feel how it handles and Jason helpfully pointed out local options for lunch/dinner to my mom and I for after we finished up at the dealership. We got back and asked the ever-patient Jason to run some numbers on both the 2013 Sonic LT sedan and the 2014 Sonic LT hatchback while my mom and I took a walk to discuss options. About 10 minutes later, we went into Jason's office where he was waiting with calculations at the ready. The 2013 Sonic LT sedan was on special and with all of the features and a rebate, it would be even less than the 2014 Sonic LS hatchback (basic model)! The car was still slightly above my intended budget so I asked if we could knock $1,000 more off the already rock-bottom pricing and Jason brought in his manager, Robert Kramer. Robert heard me out and we met in the middle taking roughly $500 more off the total. Robert was as respectful, helpful, and straightforward as Jason. I filled out the necessary paperwork, was welcomed "to the Sport family" by Robert and Jason, and Jason took me on a tour of all Sport has to offer before heading over to Fred in finance… and while my car was being cleaned up and prepped to go home with me that day! Sport seems to do everything they can to make their customers happy - the services their shop provides, a shuttle to/from anywhere in the surrounding area for waiting customers, the social gatherings for new "Sport family members", etc. They really have it together and it makes me feel good knowing that if anything goes wrong, I can bring my car here for help because they'll take care of me, too. Soon enough we were dealing with finance in Fred's office and I felt a sense of dread as he pulled out form after form after form to be completed - turns out those forms would be handled electronically and rather speedily. Fred had a great sense of humor, praise for a solid credit score (high-five included) and did not try to up-sell me on anything other than the basic loan I expressed I needed. He got me a fantastic rate and I now have a manageable loan to pay off monthly for up to 5 years with no penalty for paying it off faster – which I intend to do. Fred was also able to give me my MD tags right then and there - no extra trip to the DMV for me!! After a final tutorial from Jason in the parking lot on MyLink, OnStar, the digital displays and automatic start - and after taking a few pictures - we shook hands and my mom and I headed out to dinner. We had arrived at 11:40am and it was now around 5pm; I had seen everything I had wanted to see, asked all the questions I had needed to ask, and made a fantastic deal on a beautiful brand new car that I was able to take home immediately. It was a great day. In the future, I will insist that anyone in my life who looking for a new car go to Sport and specifically to Jason Prieto - he made this potentially painful process enjoyable and even though I was only looking into Chevy models at the lower end of the price spectrum, I was given time and attention by Jason as though I were there to look at their Camaros or Corvettes. I was treated with respect and care. I was asked the right questions and was guided to my own answers in ways that informed a responsible purchase. I was listened to. I was given valuable information on the vehicles I tested and trained on my new car’s features before driving it off the lot. And I was thoroughly impressed by all of it. More
Check engine light came on and car shook when I braked. When I made the appointment I asked if I dropped the car off the night before, would my car be looked at first thing the next morning and I was assur When I made the appointment I asked if I dropped the car off the night before, would my car be looked at first thing the next morning and I was assured that, yes, it would. WRONG! Around 2:00pm I was called with a diagnosis. Note: This is the 2nd time they have done this, which resulting in them having to keep my car an additional day. When I protested, I was told that they would arrange for a rental. I appreciate that gesture, since they told me that my vehicle wouldn't be ready until around 2:30 the next day. However, miracles do happen, because miraculously, the lenghty list of things that need to be done to my vehicle disappeared and they even washed my car. Note; this was after I told them what a wonderful job Jerry's Chevrolet does and they always wash your car. Unfortunately, they ripped the rubber off my rear wiper blades in the process. When I called to inquire as to why my oil wasn't changed, Ms. Jackie Pressman said, you didn't ask for it to be changed. I said I didn't ask for the transmission fluid to be changed or the coolant system to be flushed, but you did it. And you told me that all the fluids were changed. First I was told that I needed all 4 brake pads changed, but then another miracle, I only needed the front ones done, however, the cost only changed by approximately $30. To add insult to injury, Ms. Jackie Pressman basically called me a liar, repeatedly talked over me and continued to do so after I told her that she was being rude and since I was the customer, she should let me speak first and then told me that she was going to hang up on me; to which I said, no you won't because I'm hanging up first. All of this occurred after they got my $986.70, of which $733.91 was for labor. And she had the audacity to tell me that she was the most honest person I will ever meet. I should have done my research first... they have 8 BBB complaints so far for this year. They are about to have #9. More
This dealership is the worst I have ever dealt with. I had to take my car back multiple times to get the service work performed properly. They took my tires off (when the service on the engine did **not* had to take my car back multiple times to get the service work performed properly. They took my tires off (when the service on the engine did **not** require this) and they screwed them up when they put them back on. The next day after leaving, I get the "Service Tire Pressure Monitor" light. This would have not have occurred if they left my tires alone! After fixing the Tire Pressure Monitor, they returned the car without one of the air caps on the front right tire. I then had to ask the Service Manager for the air cap back! The Service Manager was quite rude to me. Also, they screwed up my antifreeze coolant by putting the wrong type of antifreeze in. I had to go elsewhere to get if fixed. Don't go here for anything! Went to this dealership to have an O2 sensor replaced on my 2011 Camaro which was throwing a code which clearly showed it was the O2 sensor. Dealer declined to replace my sensor stating they they diagnosed my 2011 Camaro which was throwing a code which clearly showed it was the O2 sensor. Dealer declined to replace my sensor stating they they diagnosed the car and could not figure out what it was. When they went to show me my car and explain the situation they didnt even know which car was mine and brought me to a totally different car trying to explain my catalytic converters were bad (my car doesnt have any due to aftermarket exahust) I have been driving this car with same setup of items for 2 years with no issues. Problem was simple it needed a new O2 sensor. I went ahead and bought my own and dealership swore they would pay me back and they still havent 4 months later and multiple phone calls. More
Horrible sales force. Better show up with a suitcase with cash in it if you want to test drive a Vette. I am between buying a Cadillac CTS-V and a Corvette. I test drove a CTS-V to Sport Chevrolet to test cash in it if you want to test drive a Vette. I am between buying a Cadillac CTS-V and a Corvette. I test drove a CTS-V to Sport Chevrolet to test it next to the Z06. The salesman said we would have to schedule an appointment next week if we wanted to test drive the car. Even after I told him we were going to buy either the CTS-V or Corvette he treated us like we were teenagers out for a joy ride. Needless to say, if I pick the Corvette over the CTS-V I will not be buying it through Sport Chevrolet. More
If you are in the market for a Chevrolet or need to have your car serviced, this is the place to go in the D.C. Area…!!! From my very first visit to Sport Chevrolet, I have been treated like a valued custom your car serviced, this is the place to go in the D.C. Area…!!! From my very first visit to Sport Chevrolet, I have been treated like a valued customer. My experience with Sport began several years ago with the service department. They serviced my Saturn for years and kept it in tip-top shape. More recently (March 2013) I realized the need for a new vehicle. Charlie Eames in Sales was excellent to work with [NO GAMES! {I was so pleasantly surprised!}]...I got a great deal on my trade-in, and a great price on my new Sonic Hatchback LT! This place puts the customer first. When I originally visited the dealership at Sport, I wanted to look at the different models and feel things out. Charlie took the time (I’m picky, I commute 25,000+ miles in a year, and he really took A LOT of time with me) to go through several different vehicles. He explained the pros/cons, and value of each vehicle. We looked at the Equinox, Malibu, Cruze, and Sonic. When I was ready, I took a test drive of the Sport – Loved it! Good pickup, decent on gas, nice sound system, quiet ride, and all at an awesome price with GM incentives and my USAA discount ? The team at Sport worked with me to put together a deal that would work! Lee Shirley (Sales Manager) and Charlie were honest and open. I didn’t feel pressured,: they let the deal speak for itself! And no gimmicks! I would have walked away if they had pushed “under coating” or “paint protection” like some other dealers in the area. Fred Taverner in financing also beat my USAA rate for financing (a whole point under!) – with the term and features that I wanted. Once the paperwork was out of the way, Charlie took the time to go over everything with me. That Chevy MyLink system is something else – it’s like an iPad in your car (Apps and all). The integration with OnStar is pretty cool too - you can start your car from your cell phone. The most enlightening experience was with the spare tire compartment. It has a false bottom, and he showed me how to get to it (Every time I tried I thought I was going to break something.) If you want great service or a great car buying experience, don't even bother with other dealerships in the DC area, there is no comparison. The staff here goes out of their way to provide the best sales and service experience possible. More
I visited a variety of dealerships and test-drove several different makes and models in my recent search for a new car. Sport Chevy was the only dealership that wasn't "off" somehow. At Sport, I encountere different makes and models in my recent search for a new car. Sport Chevy was the only dealership that wasn't "off" somehow. At Sport, I encountered knowledgeable and very helpful staff, no high-pressure or shady sales tactics, and none of the condescending attitude I've gotten from some sales staff at other dealerships. Jeff Schultz was very nice to work with, and was concerned that I got the right car for me (when I was waffling between a Civic and a Cruze) and not just with making a sale. I got a fair price for the new Cruze Eco, and also a pretty fair trade-in price for my car. I might, *MIGHT* have been able to save a hundred bucks or so by playing some other Chevy dealerships further afield, but I feel that Sport Chevy more than earned my money. Fred Taverner in the finance office was also very nice, and the entire process went very smoothly. I don't have extensive experience with the Service department, but I recently took my new car there for a recall repair, and that process also went very smoothly and everyone was very nice and helpful. I had a similarly pleasant experience years ago when I took my old (then new) car, purchased elsewhere, to Sport for a recall repair. I 100% recommend Sport Chevrolet. More

I have dealt with other Chevrolet dealers in Maryland and have never been given the consideration that I received from Sport Chevrolet employees. From the time I went on line to search for the car I wanted have never been given the consideration that I received from Sport Chevrolet employees. From the time I went on line to search for the car I wanted to the time they handed me the keys to my new Sonic, I was given their strict attention to my needs. I appreciated that the most. I would have no problem at all recommending Sport to all my friends and family and already have done so for when they are in need of a new or used car in the future. More
