Dear Service Manager, I’m writing to let you know I’m not satisfied with the service I received when I brought my Honda in recently. I told your team the battery light was coming on, but your technicians misdiagnosed the problem because they didn’t troubleshoot it properly. If they had put an electrical load on the alternator and taken the time to test it like I asked, they would’ve seen the issue was the alternator—not the other stuff you upsold me on. Instead, they told me the alternator was fine, and I had to bring the car back to get it replaced after all. The problem here is that your team didn’t test the alternator when I specifically pointed out the battery light, and that’s why it was missed. I’m frustrated I had to deal with this twice when a proper test would’ve caught it the first time. I expect better from your shop.

Susan, I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with your vehicle's diagnosis and repairs. We always do our best to save the alternator if possible but also need to address other concerns that we are faced with. If the oil leak was not resolved it would have affected the new alternator we would have installed. I do apologize if your service advisor did not thoroughly explain the possibilities of this happening.
