Sorry you feel this way Philip. When you came in, you did not have a check from your bank the only thing we had was your word and a lady's voice on the other end of the phone. This is why we needed to speak with your bank and have all of the information verified before releasing the car. We have had a few bad experiences with cashiers checks and personal checks so we make sure we do our due diligence when someone brings either one in. If you were selling a vehicle privately your self you would probably want to make sure everything checked out especially this day and age with all the ways scammers are able to curate checks, pay stubs, etc.

Southwest Auto Sales responded

We had one pre approval out of a handful of turn downs Tim Teubert. The pre approval wasn't even through Credit Acceptance because hey will only allow one open auto at a time with them. The pre approval was another lender that just wanted a copy of your tax return to verify income. We are sorry you feel this way but at the same time they only needed your tax return to move forward with the approval.

They wanted a tax return that I had not filed yet. Just got my 1099 today (which was provided) The fact still rains that I was told that I had a CAC approval with 3k down by one of your employees... I have never had to show tax returns for a car loan before... Don't tell people they are pre approved before they are. Especially when you knew from day one that I was coming from 5 hours away. I got 2 hard enquiry's... One from CAC and one came from you... ( I guess that's a "handful" The letters I got in the mail today (after the fact) were both indicating that credit would not be given... But yet I was told "we can get you done through CAC with 3k down..." This was also knowing I had an open auto with them... As he said CAC asked for 3k instead of my initial offering of 2k. I just don't understand why the would ask for a tax refund that has not been filed yet? I can't provide you with something that dose not exist. I will call CAC on Monday to inquire about any such conversation between you and them about them approving 3k down. It might be a blessing that it all didn't happen as there was a lot of rust on the truck and the exhaust was just kid of hanging there.
