We took our 2018 GMC Yukon here because it was having some issues. We paid $150 for a diagnostic test. We were told there was a problem with the brakes and a broken motor mount. This would cost approxima some issues. We paid $150 for a diagnostic test. We were told there was a problem with the brakes and a broken motor mount. This would cost approximately $1500 to repair. They also said we needed a new transmission and we were quoted approximately $6500 to replace that. We gave permission to do the $1500 in repairs for the brake problem and the motor mount and that we would do the transmission at a later date. They said ok. However, the next day they called us and said they found another bad part that would cost an additional $500. We said ok even though we were skeptical because if a thorough diagnostic was done, why didn’t that damage turn up at that time. We picked up our truck and drove it home. We reached out to another mechanic who suggested we check the transmission fluid. We did and discovered that there was no transmission fluid in our truck. We spent $12 on transmission fluid, put it in our truck and it’s been running fine since then. We called back up to Southtowne to inquire if the transmission fluid was checked and we were told that it WAS. However, it was left as is. If this is the case, Southtowne allowed us to drive our truck KNOWING that there was no transmission fluid in it. That’s not good. And it makes me skeptical about the entire service call. Did they REALLY find an additional damaged part or were they just trying to get money out of us? Did our transmission really need to be replaced or did it just need some transmission fluid? Whatever the case, Southtowne has lost a customer. We will not be taking our vehicles there for any more services. We have two GMC’s (one the we purchased from them) but we will find somewhere else to get them serviced. More
