My husband & I saw a 2019 Tahoe online for $45k that we were interested in purchasing, thus, I reached out to the dealership to speak with someone in sales. I was told that someone would call me back and l were interested in purchasing, thus, I reached out to the dealership to speak with someone in sales. I was told that someone would call me back and later received a call from a young man. I informed him of my interest in purchasing the vehicle & advised that I have cash in hands to proceed with the sell & wanted to discuss a negotiating price. The salesman informed me that he would have to speak with his sales manager and advised that he would get back with me. It’s important to note that the sales manager texted me a price sheet that included an additional $3k in fees which was for the following: $1k due to no trade-in, $1k due to not financing with the dealership, & $1k due to wanting it to be certified pre-owned despite the fact that internet advertised the price as CPO. I called back & requested for the additional fees to be waived & inquired about the high tax. I was then informed by the salesman that they calculated the sales tax based upon an address in New Orleans. I was beyond shock to see that this dealership did a number or name search to find my childhood home address in New Orleans which I haven’t resided at in over 15 years & questioned how the dealership came up with this address, but the salesman said he didn’t know. Moreover, the salesman sent me another price based upon my GA address, but never spoke with me about a negotiated price. I called the dealership myself and left a voicemail message with the sales manager & finance manager & spoke directly with a finance manager and explained the reason for my call. The finance manager informed me that I would need to speak with a sales manager to negotiate a price and offered to take my contact information; however, no one ever called back & the salesman called me back two days, but by this time I Had already found another vehicle that I was going to purchase. Overall, the individuals at Southtowne provided poor customer service and has poor communication; Southtowne inflates prices & does not honor the internet prices & seeks to penalize customers for not trading in a vehicle and/or not financing with them. My suggestion to any future customer is go where you’re respected, cared for, valued, and appreciated & where your concerns matter and needs are met. It’s unfortunate that this dealership lost a $50k sell due to their lack of communication, lack of interaction, lack of prioritizing a customer’s needs, & lack of regard for time. More
