The young man who assisted me was awesome. He said it would take about 1-2 ,hours to do what was needed. Even offered me a ride home and or coffee if I was staying but I had a ride home. Stay away! Had external mirror issue. Bo charged me $216 to "diagnose the problem", fully well knowing whatever it was inside the mirror couldn't be replaced & Had external mirror issue. Bo charged me $216 to "diagnose the problem", fully well knowing whatever it was inside the mirror couldn't be replaced & they never even looked inside the mirror. After telling me the mirror was a sealed unit and nothing could be repaired he offered me a new mirror for $1,172! I passed. Another KIA dealership said a new mirror from them installed & painted would be $680. They also said there was no reason to "diagnose it" because the grinding sound was a worn gear, they didn't need to do any work to figure that out, and it couldn't be replaced anyway. They said I was ripped off on both the diagnosis and the mirror price. I brought this to the attention of Southside Kia's general manager (Joseph) but I never heard from him. More

I have had the worst experience with Southside Kia service department. It first started in 2022 when I took my Sorento in to Tommie Mercer for a persistent oil leak. He first denied that the oil leak service department. It first started in 2022 when I took my Sorento in to Tommie Mercer for a persistent oil leak. He first denied that the oil leak was covered by warranty. After presenting proof that he was already aware of, he honored the warranty. Tommie had my car for 2 days. He never communicated with me, neither did Tommie provide me a rental car. On the third day and constant calls from my husband and me Kia dealership provided me a rental car. When Tommie released my car it was still leaking oil. I had to have my car towed to the dealership. This time Tommie had my car in service for a month and a half. I had my car back for maybe 2 months and my car was still leaking oil. Again, my husband had to insist that Tommie honor my Kia warranty for the oil leak problem. During this whole ordeal Tommie failed to communicate with us the status of our vehicle. He lacked empathy or any kindness of how we may be affected by being short a car. This carried on into 2023. I had Tommie do an oil change and look into why my ABS light was on. He did the oil change and told me the ABS light was on due to the right rear hub needed to be changed. He quoted me $500 and said he could possibly fix the ABS light by just doing the wheel speed sensor for $300. I told Tommie I was not able to pay that right now, but when I can I will have the Right rear hub changed for $500. He said fine here is my card call me when your ready. So, about a month or so later I scheduled an appointment with Tommie. He tries to charge another diagnostic fee. I had to remind him that we have already diagnosed it and he had already quoted me a price. Tommie changed the price to $700. Then he insisted that all I really needed repaired was the wheel speed sensor, which he increased that price to $413. I was not happy. I specifically asked Tommie will this fix my ABS problem? “Yes, it will” he said. I trusted Tommie. I paid Tommie what he asked for. I drove my car home and less than a week later my ABS LIGHT came back on. I called Tommie. He said “oh you have 4 sensors, you experiencing another sensor out”. That will be another $413. Plus another diagnostic fee. I called Kia dealership customer service, because Tommie told my husband if your unhappy call customer service. Customer service Kia talked with Tommie while I was on hold and he agreed to have me bring my Sorento back. Tommie told Customer service Kia that he would check my repaired sensor work to see if it was done correctly. He also agreed not to charge me another diagnostic fee. I would only be charged for any new sensor, if needed. I brought the car in he ran the test said I needed another sensor (because I have 4 of them) replaced for another $413. I said no, I’ll just take my car and go. Tommie said that will be $213. for a diagnostic fee. I had to argue with him to get him to honor his previous agreement with Kia customer service. He finally agreed. Now, typically Tommie sends a text and email asking if I am happy with his service. He did not send any text or email asking if I was happy this time. Well, I am not happy. I have not be happy with Kia service for quite sometime. I have been treated with indifference and Tommie Mercer has consistently showed a lack of integrity. I am so disappointed with Southside Kia service that I will never ever buy another Kia. More
