Tru Took my vehicle in for a tune up, was talked into doing just a diagnostic to make sure I needed a tune up (have over 100,000 miles on used pilot). Trusted service & they done the 'diagnostic test', conclusion was my transmission needed to be replaced. Was visibly upset, they seemed to be concerned, set me up with sales. Sales then insulted me by offering $3000 for a 2011 Honda Pilot!!! I walked out quickly & at that point I started doubting the sincerity of Southern Motors Honda. Decided to take my vehicle to get a 2nd & 3rd opinion. Low & behold I was assured by both shops my transmission is NOT the problem. I needed a tune up & timing belt (original reason for making appointment w SMH). At that point I called SMH to talk about how they reached the decision of a new transmission, service manager told me what she knew, which was that the lead tech drove my car & therefore determined it needed a new transmission. I asked if they got any sort of diagnostic off the machine & she said it did not give them any diagnostic code. I asked why I was charged the $130 for a diagnostic test when all the tech done was drive my car? At that time she transferred me to the head service manager, Keith. This is when the ordeal got really really ugly. At first Keith was nice, started off telling me that if I felt like I paid for service I didn't receive, then he would gladly refund my $130. He then went on to explain why his tech reached the decision to replace my transmission. It was bc the pilot shimmies when you reach 30-35 miles/hour. No slipping, no jolts, no other major signs, but yet my transmission was bad. I then asked Keith if his tech had seen that the transmission fluid was a beautiful red, no burnt smell, no other reason to believe the transmission was bad? Keith told me that didn't necessarily mean the transmission was still good & that these "small shops didn't care about fixing the cars like they did". He told me that the small shops didn't have the technology SMH had & there was no way they could determine if my transmission was good or not. At that point I asked Keith if he would just refund my money bc I felt as if they had misdiagnosed my problem & I would take my problem elsewhere. Keith then raised his voice telling me "I'm not in the business of refunding money. I'm not sure who's blowing smoke up your butt but when your transmission blows up & your stuck on the side of the road, DONT CALL ME, DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE"!!! I was flabbergasted, never have I ever heard of a manager ever talking to a potiential customer like he talked to me. I got loud at that point & reminded Keith that he told me if I felt as if I didn't get the service they charged me for then he would refund my money. He argued with me saying he never told me that! I again asked if he would just please refund my money & he would never have to hear from me again. He told me he would refund my money but when my transmission went out to bring it back up to him bc "everybody always comes back"!!! I told him I would not take my car back to him bc he just told me not to call him when I was broke down on the side of the road. After calming down I decided I would reach out to the head of operations to let them know how I was treated so no one else would go thru that ordeal. Left two messages, finally got a call back from Keith!!! Said Ross had forwarded the message to him & he would have my check asap. So needless to say, SMH sure does not seem to care how they treat folks bc they believe "everyone always comes back". I won't return to them, for anything. I'll sell my vehicle & get another brand before returning to SMH. More

Outstanding! Immediate check-in. Service person advised me on costs/options for service before any work began. Smooth, informative check-out. Everyone very polite. Immediate check-in. When I picked the car up they were closing but I got the car just in time. When driving home I noticed the vehicle was making noise. I couldnt bring the vehicle back for awhile. It sounded like the power steering so I added some and it stopped making the noise for a week. Then it started again so I brought it in. All together it was about 2 to 3 weeks. I brought it back and they said the power steering rack was leaking and it would be 1,450.00. I told them it was working perfect before you worked on it, you guys messed it up. They of course denied it. I also noticed a few days later after they initially worked on the vehicle there was oil on my garage floor. There never was before. I know this because I recently painted my garage floor. Its just a huge coincidence that this broke the day they worked on my car. Hmmm yeah ok. The director said I can promise you the mechanic didnt break your car. I said really?! How can you promise me that?! Were you looking over his shoulder for every second he was working on my car? He didnt like that. He said his mechanics dont need to break cars because they get paid very well. This is bull crap. I will never go there ever again and will tell every person I know not to go there. The other manager Billy Kersey (a girl) said in all the years she worked her this has never happened. She never seen it or heard of it ever happening. I find that kind of funny because another employee that works there Eric Strickland over heard us arguing and when they were not looking he said Im sorry, this happens more then I like to admit . He said he told his mother he cant stand working here because he fells like crap knowing what they do here and how they rip people off. He said he hears this all the time that the service department is always messing peoples cars up on purpose and then charging the customer. He said it happens all the time at Southern Motors Honda on 10300 Abercorn St, Savannah Ga. 31406. More
