One of the more frustrating experiences at Southern Norfolk, and I have had several. Before you read any further, my service advisor, Sam was very patient and professional with me. This isn't a poor review of Sam, rather a poor review of the management of the service processes and service website. I waited over 20 minutes to get my vehicle checked in for an appointment. I normally wouldn't have minded if they were busy. However, I was one of two cars in the bay. My assigned advisor was busy with another customer, but 4 other advisors just looked at me through the window while I waited. When I questioned the group in the office if they could check me in, I was given a bunch of attitude and dismissed by one of the advisors and told to wait for my assigned advisor. I do not recall her name. It seems like a complete waste of time to force someone to wait for an assigned advisor when your vehicles records are all in the computer and should be easily worked across the group. If it was an ongoing issue or something specific, I can maybe understand. But this was routine. I reserved the appointment via the dealerships website. In that transaction, I selected the option to reserve a rental car. When I inquired about the rental car that morning, I was told you can only get a rental for warranty work. I'm not sure why the rental car is an option on the website if it isn't in real life. Southern needs to fix their website. To be clear - I was willing (and expecting) to pay for the rental. I just needed to get back to work. Basic maintenance, such as an oil change, tire rotation, and state inspection are not available as service selections on the website. I recognize this dealership favors the "express lane" model, but some folks have tight work schedules and need to be able to drop off the vehicle and pick up and certain times -- hence the purpose of an appointment (and requesting a rental). My friendliness 1* below is for the 4 advisors in the office who just looked at me and gave me attitude. Not Sam. I will not be returning to this dealership for any maintenance, not that one person has an impact on their bottom line. More
