New owners This was the fastest and best experience I’ve had at a dealership. There were no hidden fees or anything shady that you get at some other dealerships. I took my vehicle in for repair because of multiple dash board errors and codes. The vehicle had less than 5k miles on it but had been sitting in a lot for almost than 2 years, undriven due to extraordinary issues. The car actually ran very well when started up with a new battery installed by me, but the errors persisted along with symptoms like then engine not shutting off right away when the key was removed. Some dash dials not working, doors not opening unless the engine is off. Interior lights not going off when they are suppose to. Taking it in for inspection I was told that the computer was giving dozens of problem codes. As far as I could tell the mechanical portions of the vehicle were OK. Though I am not an auto mechanic, all of these problems felt like a computer problem to me. Despite reading many negative reviews after making an appointment, I took the vehicle in anyway as it was not far away. (My mistake.) I told the service manager my concerns about all the negative reviews. He seemed not to be aware of them but said they will endeavor to rest my concerns with good service. I also explained to him the symptoms and my thoughts that it seemed like more of a computer problem than mechanical. He informed me that there would be a separate $135 service charge for EACH issue I described. I quickly stopped him right there and told him to just check the errors on the Dashboard in hopes that would cover the main issue affecting all others. I my mind it had to be electrical or something related to the computer. How else would you get so many varied codes. By early afternoon I was called by service and told that the vehicle will require around $2100 worth of service and parts which included the ABS module, major parts of the engine, and 5 days for the parts to come in. He assured me that that what fix all the problems. Not satisfied with the idea that an engine with less than 5k miles on it and appears to run perfectly needed major parts replaced, I quickly did some research online on the purposes of the parts they said needed to be replaced. As I said before, I am not an auto mechanic, but I am a computer technician and I quickly became dissatisfied with their diagnosis of the problem. To me this screamed computer and/or electrical problem. I quickly called the Service Center back to stop any further repairs, that I wanted a second opinion and went to retrieve the vehicle as quickly as possible. I got there just before closing. I paid around $200 for the diagnosis and oil change and was given the keys. Now the icing on the cake of fail. I go out to the lot, get in the car, and it won't start. The starter does not even activate. I run back in as they where about to close the gates to inform them of the problem. They claimed it was probably a dead battery. I insisted when I drove in this morning the 2 day old battery was fine. They came out with a booster in an effort to prove me wrong. The tech tried a few times to start the car when he finally noticed the dash board message, "Bad Key". He showed me the key asking 'Did your key have door controls on it?' Though it looked the same in design it was missing the door button labels on a couple of buttons. He went back inside. After a few minutes came back out with another key, I said that looks more like it. Tried it and the car started right up. The tech claimed that two keys somehow ended up with the same number tag!!! Needless to say, I put the pedal to the metal and got out of Dodge as quickly as possible. Pun intended. I went to another service center a few days later that had better reviews. They seemed much more accepting of my opinions on what I thought was the problem. (I did not mention the previous service center and diagnosis.) And they DID NOT want to charge me for each and every symptom I described. The check-in tech actually seemed to agree with what I suspected the problem to be. The service center called me back later in the day to tell me the issues. The engine and mechanics where fine! But the main computer module and a couple of other body modules suffered damage. That is why all the errors. The damage was caused by rodents who had nested in the engine compartment and started chewing on the main cable harness exposing wires and causing short circuits which damaged the computers. They where going to try to repair the harness as replacing it would be prohibitively expensive and replace the damaged computer modules. One of which was completely fried. Though the bill was going to come to almost $2800, I was far more satisfied with the diagnosis and assessment of the repairs than the last dealer ship. So bottom line, this service center in my opinion cannot be trusted and would recommend avoiding them. More
