I found a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 that appeared to be in great shape inside and out. My first clue that the this deal was going to go south should have been when the bank told me that they could not finance it as the asking price was significantly over blue book. I worked with Randy to get the price down and went forward with the purchase. Within a week, the check engine light was on and the vehicle had the smell of coolant when running the heat...took it back to the dealership, which is located 40 miles south of me. They were able to get the light to go off and indicated that they had to "dry out" cylinder number 8 and had no response to the smell of coolant. After spending 6 hours at the dealership, I got the truck back and hoped for the best. Within two weeks I had a check engine light on again and now no heat and still a smell of coolant. Took the vehicle back...again, they "dried out" cylinder 8 again and they filled the radiator back up indicating that "the radiator had been replaced and likely had air" in it. I suggested heater core, but they dismissed that. Again, another day at the dealership...drove off only to return again in two weeks for the same two issues including coolant smell. This time they said they found a "pin hole" in the overflow tank under pressure test and replaced it, at my cost of $60. When two weeks later I stranded on the side of the road due to no coolant and a blown lower radiator hose, I had the truck towed to a reputable dealer closer to home. The dealer replaced the hose, but immediately noticed the smell of coolant and upon my OK, they found that the heater core was shot and needed to be replaced. Since I had had such poor service at South Shore, I decided to pay for the repairs and chalk it up to experience. The truck ran fine for nearly a month when it was again blowing cold air. Took it back in again to have them diagnose that the heads were likely warped and that they would need to be replaced at the costs of over $2K! I called and talked to Randy and Mustafa who had me drive down on a Saturday assuring me that they would just "swap out the truck" and make things right, but after spending another morning at the dealership, they indicated they had "nothing on the lot that would work" for me, but assured me they would continue to look. After two weeks, I followed up with a call to Randy. He was busy, but Mustafa assured me that Randy had "found" a Mountaineer that they thought would work. I was willing to take anything at this point that didn't have a check engine light on. I waiting for Randy to call back...no call. I called and again got Mustafa who assured me that Randy was "working the figures" and would call me back. It's been four weeks now since I was last in the dealership and still no return call... While I realize that the folks who have rated the dealership so far see pleased, all i can say is that if you DO run into issues, don't expect to get a positive response from South Shore Autolines. Just purchased a 2007 Honda Pilot in good shape for a reasonable price. Always dread the car buying experience, but interacting with Glenn Smith was easy. He's congenial and went the extra mile to make reasonable price. Always dread the car buying experience, but interacting with Glenn Smith was easy. He's congenial and went the extra mile to make me happy. I discovered an issue with the a/c after I took possession of the Pilot, and had low expectations that South Shore would repair it; my oversight during the test drive. Glenn said they would take care of the problem, and even loaned us another car to use during the day. Overall a good experience. More

This was my first time buying a car. I went to look at a Honda Fit. The person helping me was very nice. He didn't try to sell me the additional warranty. They worked with me on the price and helped me to g Honda Fit. The person helping me was very nice. He didn't try to sell me the additional warranty. We trust the mechanics, we like the service and feel comfortable working with the service desk. The work done on our PT Cruiser has been good and the prices have been fair. The waiting room could be b comfortable working with the service desk. The work done on our PT Cruiser has been good and the prices have been fair. The waiting room could be better (quite cold in the winter) but is adequate. There is no high pressure sales talk. More
