Imagine my surprise technicians? Made an appointment for Warranty Service on our MY21 ELECTRIC Bolt and Recall - HV BATTERY MAY MELT OR BURN! Imagine my surprise when after 1. Confirming my appointment, 2. Checking in and grabbing a cup of your MEDIOCRE coffee in the waiting area, 3. I am told that your ONE trained EV Technician isn’t working today??? Talked to 3 different folks at South Charlotte Chevrolet and no one bothered to see if your EV Tech would be working that day??? This does not bode well for the MASSIVE recall - how long will that take? In the interim Chevrolet suggests that we don’t garage our BRAND NEW car as it might catch fire with the potential for disastrous results!!! NOT a happy Chevrolet customer… More
My wife brought her truck (2006 Silverado 2500) in to diagnose a rattling noise in the steering column. This is the report she got back. $1,829.15 for “steering column joint” She asked me to look at diagnose a rattling noise in the steering column. This is the report she got back. $1,829.15 for “steering column joint” She asked me to look at it before she had the dealer do any work. I called the “Service Advisor”, to ask for more details about the steering column. He said that although the estimate said “steering column joint” the actual part that needed to be replaced was the “steering column”. Didn’t sound quite right so I went with my wife to the dealership to talk with the Service Advisor. Talked with Service Advisor at the dealership. I asked him to help me understand what part of the steering column was defective. He pulled up a picture of the steering column assembly. I asked if I could talk with the technician that diagnosed the problem. He had already left for the day but called him on the phone. Same explanation - the whole steering column needed to be replaced. Turns out that the actual part that needed to be replaced was just the bearing at the bottom of the steering column. A cursory internet search produced many links to explanations of the issue that is well documented and known by users. Part costs less than $30. It takes an inexperienced backyard mechanic an hour or two (including snack and bathroom breaks) to replace. I wish it were just a case of incompetence but I see that your technicians are “GM” Certified. Now I know that it means, trained in Gross Malfeasance. No, I don’t blame just the tech. Service Advisors are like the car drivers for the bank robbers - they facilitate the crime. And every aspect of your company - Sales, Parts, Pervice - is tainted. If your company is willing to be that dishonest there is nothing that I can trust about you. Smiles and nice talk don’t make up for the stench of dishonesty. Did my wife get her money's worth for a $99 diagnostic review? Or did she just pay for a wish list of parts you would like to sell her. I’m surprised she was not recommended to buy a new truck. I’m posting this as a service to your future marks. More
