I am sorry to hear that you were so dissatisfied with your recent service experience. When you initially came in, you were quoted $105 for mounting and balancing a set of 4 tires that you provided. When the technician began removing the original tires, he found that two of the valves were seized. Because the valves on the sensors were seized, the tires could not be swapped without replacing and programming the sensors. The final total for the 4-tire mounting and balancing that you originally came in for, as well as parts and labor for replacing and programming two sensors came to $446.94 plus sales tax. I am sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience at Smithtown Toyota. While I did not personally see your vehicle when you returned with the broken latch, both our service department as well as our express maintenance department were able to examine your vehicle and I am confident in their assessment that the latch was broken due to normal wear and tear and not as a result of the technician opening and closing the hood during the service. Hood latches can become corroded over time and eventually break. I understand that a week can be a long wait for a part and I apologize that we were unable to get you the new latch any sooner. I spoke with the Service Advisor that assisted you and she informed me that she explained the diagnostic charge to you in person when you dropped the vehicle off. She let you know that it was your decision whether you would like to move forward or not and she told you how much the diagnostic charge would be if you chose to proceed. You decided to go ahead with the work and you were charged the amount that was discussed when you dropped your vehicle off.
