I just bought my third Acura RDX from Smail Acura and the process was as painless and pleasant as possible. Although delayed by the current car shortage when my order arrived at Smail I was driving it home process was as painless and pleasant as possible. Although delayed by the current car shortage when my order arrived at Smail I was driving it home days later. My sales assistant never pressured me to add options and thoroughly explained the differences between my trade-in and the new model. The business manager took me through the financial segment smoothly, efficiently, and answered any question I posed. And, finally, my experiences with the service department over the last six years have all been positive. In short, I have confidence in the dealership and would recommend them highly. More
I went to Smail Acura in Greensburg, PA to drive a certified MDX. I verified multiple times that it was available since I had to drive over an hour. I was never told it was "as good as sold" as Joe certified MDX. I verified multiple times that it was available since I had to drive over an hour. I was never told it was "as good as sold" as Joe the Sales Mgr told us later. We arrived at 1:30 and were told there was another potential buyer coming at 2. We liked it and wanted to buy it and were waiting (for 45 min) for the trade in appraisal, and were told a lie about the user car appraiser being delayed. In reality they were making a deal with the other buyer. Joe told us he was very shaken and :in a pickle" because another salesman was working with the other buyer for a few days and just needed "to finalize the trade in etc". He said it was not our salesman's fault (Alec) but there was no way Alec did not know. I am sure he got some portion of the commission for delaying us and lying to us. He even had the gaul to run after me when we walked out angry to say "I hope you do not hold this against me" and "I did not know" but I am 100% sure that is a lie. We were totally used as a back-up just in case the other buyer fell through, we were lied to, we were misled. All sales people knew what was going on - they had to. The sales mgr was talking to the salesman when we arrived and knew we were driving the MDX that was "good as sold" but they still made us wait around just in case things fell through. It was so frustrating to be lied to that we are not just never going back to that dealer, but we are now not likely buy an Acura period. How can Acura employ people that act like this and treat potential customers like dirt? It is no wonder more cars are being sold through 3rd parties online where they do not have to deal with used car salesmen who, in this case, deserve the reputation they have. More
I brought my Toyota to Smail Acura for the complimentary annual state inspection like I always have since purchasing it used from this dealership. According to Joseph Giarrusso (Licence #4376) it failed the annual state inspection like I always have since purchasing it used from this dealership. According to Joseph Giarrusso (Licence #4376) it failed the annual safety check due to an alleged issue with the intermediate steering shaft. The mechanic said the shaft was making a clunking noise whenever you turned the wheel aggressively, and needed to be replaced as it was a safety issue. He said the car would also have to be realigned after replacing the shaft. Total estimated cost for the repairs would be $650.00usd for the part and installation, and $139.95 for the alignment. I declined the repair, and called the local Toyota dealership. The service manager said it was a common issue for some Toyotas, but that it wasn't a safety issue and it should have passed the state inspection. He also stated that if it was done by a trained mechanic, alignment was also unnecessary. All that would be necessary to alleviate the annoying clunk would be to grease the splines on the intermediate steering shaft. I understand that business profits are down during the Covid crisis, however I believe Smail Acura tried to give me the "shaft" by this unnecessary repair, and simply applied grease to the splines and it passed the safety inspection at the Toyota dealership. No more annoying clunk when the steering wheel is aggressively turned. Total cost: about $1.00usd. More
