It looks like I had a similar experience to others on here. It's difficult not to notice the vast difference in culture from the days of Jerry Damson. During our test drive, my sales rep, Daniel, even co here. It's difficult not to notice the vast difference in culture from the days of Jerry Damson. During our test drive, my sales rep, Daniel, even commented on the change to a more "corporate" culture. He was nice enough, but there were several frustrating moments throughout the process. The sticker price is definitely designed to get you in the door with zero effort to get you out the door remotely close to that price. The actual base price on my paperwork was $400 over the original advertised price. After deciding to move forward with the purchase, they initially tried to charge nearly $3k in fees alone, not including tax and title. The manager, Zac Biddle, was the full stereotype of a used car salesman. There were several small but very frustrating things when the experience hasn't been great, to begin with. They didn't fill the tank up all the way, they left a massive residue on the liftgate where a former dealership emblem apparently was. The day I signed all of the paperwork, the vehicle hadn't been detailed. So Daniel said he'd be back in by 9 am the next morning, and it would be ready to pick up. I got there at 9:15. Daniel showed up at 9:30 with no communication or apology and just said that the van wasn't ready yet. He was not great at communicating, and I felt he did nothing to try and help me with the overall sale outside of bringing the van around. He initially handed me one key, and when I asked if there were two, he said no. Then he looked at the tag on the keyring and realized there were two keys. So, all that to say that I chose to purchase the vehicle at the price I bought it for. But, in every way Damson used to try to make the customer happy, Shottenkirk goes the opposite way. Dealership first. Customer satisfaction is a non-priority. Some of this I suppose is a result of the current market. But it's not a sustainable business model. You can see it in several of their salespeople. They're not happy there. They don't like the environment. If you find a great deal, don't sign on the line until you can actually leave with that deal. I would advise shopping around more before you decide to buy here. More
This dealership quoted me a price of $44,000 for a 2022 CR-V LX which has an MSRP of $26,800. That is $17,000+ above MSRP! Avoid this dealership if you value your hard-earned dollars! FEES FEES FEES! My husband and I are expecting our first baby and were looking to pay cash for a cheap used vehicle due to needing a second car. I researched the car My husband and I are expecting our first baby and were looking to pay cash for a cheap used vehicle due to needing a second car. I researched the car I found online on their website thoroughly, and their “sale price” was at the top of what KBB valued it at in perfect condition (which it wasn’t with a missing hub cap, tire light on, and part of the dash held together by duct tape). We went to drive it, loved it, and were prepared to buy it, UNTIL we saw their out the door price. There were so many unnecessary fees tacked on that a “$7,000” car was now over $10,000. I told them our max budget was around 8,000 and that I knew from research that the car was not worth what they wanted for it…. They bring back an offer at exactly $10,000 and turn right around and ask if they could get it to $9,000 if we would still consider it. The first mistake was advertising a car at one price knowing it will be way over that amount, the second was knowingly and admittedly not bringing me back your best offer the second time, and the third was the overall unwillingness to work with me and lower/drop the unnecessary price gouging and fees that you supposedly “can’t take off due to company policy” and trying to get me to “just finance” instead. The sad thing is I went into it with realistic expectations and would’ve probably bought it at around $9,000 if I had felt like they weren’t just trying to squeeze extra money from me from the beginning. I absolutely will never work with this dealership again. More

Great salesman. Horrible dealership. I went in with a vehicle I had 7 thousand dollars of equity in at least! Found a car that we liked and started working the deal. Horrible dealership. I went in with a vehicle I had 7 thousand dollars of equity in at least! Found a car that we liked and started working the deal. When we settled on a price the sales manager sends the salesman out with a paper for me to sign with the numbers on it. they added almost 7 thousands dollars for “used vehicle reconditioning” and “shottenkirk care”. Which means absolutely nothing. Then the manager goes on to explain that they price the vehicles low online so they get people to Come in to the dealership…then they just hike the price back up with add one to get what they need to put of the vehicle. Total false advertising. My salesman was awesome and understanding and I could tell even he thought it was crap. I ended up getting the deal I wanted because this isn’t my first rodeo but I feel bad for anyone who doesn’t call this BS out. More
I bought a used CR-V almost 3 weeks ago from Shottenkirk Honda of Huntsville. Cash deal. I traded a car that was being serviced at another dealership. When I arrived at the dealership to pick up the vehicle Honda of Huntsville. Cash deal. I traded a car that was being serviced at another dealership. When I arrived at the dealership to pick up the vehicle ,which I had been told would be serviced and ready, the windshield which was badly damaged, had not been replaced. I have repeatedly called and left messages and yet no one has bothered to return my calls. My granddaughter is driving the car in Birmingham and was actually verbally warned by an officer to get it fixed. This really shook her up since she has only been driving 8 months. Over the years my husband and I have purchased 7 vehicles from Jerry Damson Honda and have never had a problem. I'm not sure the new owner, Shottenkirk, has the same standards. They told me the windshield would have to be ordered and then a gentleman would be scheduled to install it. Why is this so hard to accomplish and why not return my calls? I asked the salesman on the day we picked up the car if the windshield could be replaced in Birmingham since the car resides there. Supposedly the manager said he wanted the delivery to be in Huntsville. I'm very unhappy to be treated this way after all my years of loyalty to Honda and Acura. More
My 2013 Honda was serviced and less then 10 later I started having spongy brake issues. I went back for a diagnostic and was told someone put the wrong type of fluid or liquid in the braking system. T started having spongy brake issues. I went back for a diagnostic and was told someone put the wrong type of fluid or liquid in the braking system. The technician denied making the error and Honda refuse to correct the issue. They told me my brake system is now deteriorating. Many reviews indicate Honda owners are having multiple issues with their vehicles and are receiving poor service. Customer service concerns seems nonexistent, "it's not their problem". Nice talk but no assistance, help or relief given. Customer service actually told me to take my vehicle somewhere else for service. More
The salesman we interacted with, Tim, was great. Affable, likeable, was personable without feeling completely fake. Tim seems like a good guy. That's the extent of the nice things I have to say abou Affable, likeable, was personable without feeling completely fake. Tim seems like a good guy. That's the extent of the nice things I have to say about this place. Went in to look at a car priced, on their website, at $29k. When we get the final verdict the real price was over $3200 more than the advertised price, AND they beat me up big time on the trade-in. They lowball you for the trade-in then try to charge the person who buys your trade in extra to "recondition it". But my single biggest gripe was the manager who preceded to tell me they don't make but $500 off each trade-in. I will never, EVER, interact with this group. Maybe if you're purchasing new they don't try to rake you over the coals, or maybe that's just how buying a car is now-a-days, but I won't be back. More
Tried to schedule for an oil/filter change but was told they could only do with a multipoint inspection, brake check, tire check, fluid check and lights check and that it would be $58.92. Uh, okay....... they could only do with a multipoint inspection, brake check, tire check, fluid check and lights check and that it would be $58.92. Uh, okay....... My child takes the vehicle in as it's currently out of state and I ended up being charged $72.44, not the $58.92 mentioned. I called and spoke with Mike the service advisor and he claimed he had asked my child if a tire rotation was wanted and that he had said 'yes'. My child didn't agree to anything additional being done other than what the appointment was for. If someone makes an appointment for "X" don't change it to "Y" when a kid brings it in. All I wanted in the first place was an oil/filter change, and nothing more. That evening, I received an e-mail from the dealership for the same services they charged me for but for the special price of $55.55. ??? Besides the upsell, I was told by my child and his friend who had brought the car in that Mike was a bit of a jerk asking where the car had been purchased, and even though Mike was told in a different state, he later insisted my child had told him it had been purchased there at Shottenkirk. Uh, Okay....... I WILL NEVER TAKE ANY OF MY VEHICLES TO YOU AGAIN More
